I'm trying to post the following about my current account onto the HSBC online messages facility...
I am writing to request that you repay
all the default charges that have been
applied to my account. I do not believe
these charges reflect the true cost to
HSBC of going into unauthorised
overdraft. The charges total 657.50. I
believe I have been unlawfully deprived
of the money and therefore ask that you
repay me the full amount plus appropriate
interest. Please find a full schedule of
the charges as follows
DATE ITEM AMOUNT
26dec2002 TOTAL CHARGES 27.50
19mar2003 CHARGE 60.00
20mar2003 CHARGE 30.00
21mar2003 CHARGE 10.00
18mar2004 TOTAL CHARGES 18.00

I look forward for a full response to
this message within 14 days.
Yours faithfully,
However, when I try to send I get the message...
We are unable to deal with your request because you have entered unsupported character(s). Please try again. (S07)
In a previous message I had to replace the likes of I'm with I am, but I've not got a clue what the "offending" character(s) are in this case.
Does anyone know?0 -

Would it be better to write back and tell them I wont accept the offer, and then (hopefully!) wait for the full amount?0 -
CLR wrote:I sent my first letter to HSBC reclaiming £1900 in charges this week. However I have new charges of £100 due to be debited from my account in 2 weeks. Can anyone tell me if I will need to reclaim this £100 separately once it has been debited?
Thanks Claire
You can add charges up to the court stage, provided they have actually taken the money from you.0 -

Thanks to this website i received a letter last night from Co-Op Bank offering me the full amount of charges back plus interest. My question is that i have also received a letter from Capital One only offering a quarter of the amount back, does anyone know what letter template i could use to refuse this offer and re-ask for the full amount back? Or should i just call them?
Any advice would be greatly apperciated.
Thanks
Vicky

Response to settlement offer.
Dear [named sender or Sirs]
Thank you for your letter dated xx/xx/xx
I respectfully decline your offer as Full and Final settlement and request, once again, that you return to me all charges imposed on this account, totalling £xxxx
I will accept the sum offered only as part settlement and on the clear understanding that I will pursue recovery of the remainder, with a County Court claim if necessary.
My (Request for Repayment letter) (Letter Before Action) dated xx/xx/xx indicates that you have until xx/xx/xx to respond before I proceed to the next stage of my request (before I commence legal action). My deadline remains the same despite this offer.
I trust this clarifies my position.
Yours faithfully

If you ask for copy statements the banks can and do charge per statement, you are asking for a list of all your charges or copy statements as per DPA which can carry a maximum charge of £10.0 -

Hi Edinburghlass,
My post, number 2714, ask's a similar question, hsbc have advised that they will be debiting a charge of 100 on 17/3/07 was gonna send my claim off 2mra and include this charge would you advise against this and just add it when it is actually taken???????????0 -
Dear All,
Well,my case got to the stage where Lloyds filed a defence.
I haven't received the defence papers yet, so i don't know their reasons but I've got a few questions:
1. I'm not sure whether Lloyds customers are allowed to claim back account charges (£7 a month); I know other banks provide exactly the same service as Lloyds for no fees at all. When I filed my claim I got conflicting advice on whether to claim these fees or not, so I decided to add them to my charge list.
Was this a mistake?
2. I received a partial payment of £715 from Lloyds as their 'goodwill gesture'. I declined the 'generous' offer (altogether I'm claiming around £2100) but the person from the HQ said it was OK,they wouldn't take the money back; if I won the total amount they would just deduct the £715 from the payout.
So on my court claim I was still claiming the full amount.
Now I saw that Lloyds is defending the whole amount and it made me wonder whether the reasons above were prompting them to defend. Or is it just one of their tactics?
I already let the court know about the £715 partial payment and they noted it on my file.
Bit confused, any advice would be welcome.
Thanks!!Lloyds TSB Current Account-Data Protection Act S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) sent 27 Oct 2006- Letter Before Action sent 5 Jan 2007 :dance:HSBC - Fully settled!:T

Can anyone advise me on what to do
Thanks
Hi
I'm at the same stage as you but with hsbc, I didn't ask for interest on my 1st letter and have just printed off my 2nd letter, again with no interest, but a line stating that I will claim interest if it goes to court. I've had no response from them at all, I rang up and they told me my "complaint" had been logged on 24th Feb, Have given them a few days grace but I'm off to the post office tomorrow!0 -
