Hi all,
I am currently 9 days into my 28 day period with the MCOL after halifax stated they wished to defend. If Halifax leave their response untill the final week and then send me an offer, does that mean the clock is still ticking down the 28 days or does it stop until I respond?

My son used your form to reclaim from the Royal Bank of Scotland. He claimed £768 and threatened if it went to court he would add interest. He received all £768 - so one letter worked for him. It was a disgrace that he was charged such a lot as it was a student account and he had only had the account 3 years. When he originally asked for his bank statements (about last August)the bank manager told him not to believe everything he read on the internet, even though he had never mentioned why he wanted the bank statements! He only got round to sending his claim in two weeks ago! Thanks Martin0

If the Defendant files an Acknowledgement of Service within 14 days of receiving the claim form, they will be entitled to 28 days from the date they were served with the claim form to file a defence or admission of your claim. If the Defendent does not file a defence or admission within the 28 days you can request a Judgment by Default.
Was told 14 days by this site. Annoying.Reclaiming Bank Charges in the UK

Bank: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: £1,100
Amount Paid: £970
I figured that was close enough so agreed. I have maintained my banking relationship with them - no threats of account closures. Painless, 3 - 4 weeks total (that was over Christmas & New Year), 2 letters sent.
Heard you on the Today programme, thank you for being bolshy.0 -
a couple of weeks ago i started on the 1st step of reclaiming my bank charges and sent them a letter requesting 6 years of statements a long with a £10 cheque. yesterday i recived a letter of Lloyds tsb saying that they have recived my letter of complaint! i'm a bit confused, i haven't made a complaint. has anyone else recived a letter like this of Lloyds tsb when they have requested there 6 years of statements?Back on MSE again! to take control of my finances and not let it control me. :T May grocery challenge £41.96/1400

Bank: MBNA
Amount Claimed £1005.00
Amount Paid: £1005.00
Wrote Initial Letter requesting refund, Then LBA, Paid £570.00, replied saying I would accept this as an interim payment only, submitted MCOL, MBNA defended, and sent further cheque for £435.00 the same day!. This is one of five claims, and I expected MBNA to be one of the ones that would resist hardest, but were the first to roll over, albeit as a "goodwill" gesture, together with an admonishment that any further breaches of terms will be met with immediate withdrawal of credit, a bit pointless 'cos the account was closed a year ago!
Bank: Capital One (Classic Card)
Amount Claimed: £352.00
Amount Paid: £352.00
Again, went as far as MCOL, which was \acknowledged, then 1 day before deadline of 28 days, Defended, and paid up £352.00! (as a goodwill gesture - again an awful lot of goodwill!

Hi all, was telling my mum about reclaiming bank charges when she realised that my dad had a lot of charges because of his business.
I know they can be reclaimed but unfortunately my dad died in 2003 the business was passed to my mum who then sold it can she reclaim the charges (the business was only ever in dad's name)?
I think I know the answer already but thought it was worth asking as mum could really do with the money (the money she got for the business just paid the business debts).
Thanks for taking the time to read this & all comments and advise would be greatly appreciated.
