  • Hi All

Nothing back from RBS after 1st letter i stated its getting close to the 14 days they stated they have 8 weeks to respond to a complaint and if i wanted to take alternative action after the 14 days then that was upto me it would make no difference to my complaint they would still carry on with there investigation..

On a brighter note HBOS stated they will be contacting me by a certain date to make and i quote " AN Amicable offer to resolve my complaint " However looking for some Help with HBOS.

I am claiming for 2 accounts with HBOS 1 off them had a balance of about £3 and then i got hit with over £250 worth of charges over about 3 weeks they have now closed the account cleared the amount and applied a default notice on my credit file stating only way to remove it is to pay that amount to them

P.S Is it true the actual cost to a bank is £4.50

    ANy Idea's

Sent the first letter to Natwest on 18 January, didnt hear anything back so wrote again threating legal action on 20 February, recieved a letter from them on 23rd (very quick) offering me £804 as a good will gesture.. needless to say with my 'financial situation' ive bit their hand off, just waiting for it to be paid in now.

Will mention that the letter they sent me was printed on both sides (saving money now i guess), the first side was a full page of how they offer free banking, and dont make a profit on these charges blah blah, thought i was going to have to make a claim, turned the page over and the first words were 'however...blah blah good will gesture', im glad i just didnt chuck it away after reading the first page!

When making your calculations do you need to take into account the true cost to the bank per charge and minus this from the total, or just go the whole hog for the full amount regardless?

    Claimed back £1400

Started December. Started Court proceedings from 'Moneyclaim', had letter saying that they would fight all the way in court......that was just to frighten me so i wrote a very kind letter stating the mistakes on there behalf and that I was a single mother with 3 children trying to earn a bit of money and because a direct debits weren't being made, they wouldl charge £29.50, take there money out straight away...even though the direct debit wasn't made, then they would charge me a further £19.00 for going over drawn!!!!! How flippin cheeky is that!!!!!

I opened up another account, explaining exactly what i was doing and was successful, even though I had to go bankrupt a few years ago.

Got a call from N&P saying they would pay the money in if I were to stop it going to court, and that they were happy to keep my account open as long as I didn't have direct debits!! RESULT!!!!

I received a email from Martin 'MONEY SAVING GURU AND GENIUS' saying that the banks are going to start fighting bank....how lucy am I to have started sooner. Thank you Martin, I love you I love you I love you, my kids love you too cos I will be taking them on holiday!!!...oh and paying bloody bills!!

    Cheers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

WOW! I didn't believe it could happen to me as well! Thanks MARTIN!! Sent downloaded letter, received an offer letter from Natwest just over two weeks later, saying that they don't agree that their charges are unfair, blah blah blah, but as a gesture of good will they will offer me £1576 paid directly into my bank account. I had to sign and send off an acceptance letter. All done! YAY!!!

Thanks EL, will pop the letter in the post box tomorrow!!..

I tried using the calculator but I dont think it can cope with the amount of charges I have!, It stopped letting me enter my charges after Jan 2005! at which point I was already on £6k inc interest!

    :rotfl:
    Hi Shrimper,
Just start another list of interest calculations and send them two lots of them. You MUST check all the charges and work out the interest even though you are already £6k up as they took that off you anyway.

But beware, it looks like you will have to go to the magistrates court for this claim as it is over £5k. This means that you can be asked to pay legal fees to Barclays in some situations and also your court fees are significantly higher than the small claims court.

Well done for making the effort to find this site, the money you will claim back is going to be superb!!
