hi everyone , i aint got a clue hw to use this forum or chat thing, i am so confused. can u find out for me if i am able to reclaim this back , i am a bit nervous abt reclaiming my bank charges which are exceeding my overdraft usage which i knw i can get back, but will i be able to reclaim the following;
I took a loan from LTSB for £16000 on the 16th May 2006, it was a buy nw pay later loan, where u get the loan deposited in to ur account on that day and ur first installment will be taken 3 months later.
my first installment was due on the 26th August 2006.
I got the loan because i was in the process of selling 1 of my propertys and buying another 1, but i needed the funds for the property that i was buying at that moment.
i got £16000 on the 16th may 2006, the property i was selling sold so i got the £16000 back & thought i mite as well pay of the loan.
on the 27th july i decided to pay the loan off. I got charged £749.04 on top of my £16000 that i owed the bank, with them saying it is the interest that is charged @ £8 per day from the day my loan became active as well as the ERP.
what i didnt understand was that i was paying the loan off even before my installments were going to go out on the 28th August which was a month later, i didnt mind paying a one-off fee for paying it back early, but paying all that interest totally shook me up. i was told that if i had paid the loan of within 30 days of it becoming active i would have only got charged £1
but because i am paying it all of i am incurred 2 all those interest charges.
my question 2 u is, can i claim that back, im really stuck, i need ur expert opinion on this matter plz.
thank you :T0 -
Hiya,
Just Gonna Post Off My Letter To Hsbc Asking For Charges Back And Had A Quick Look At My Account Under The Charges Summary It Lists That They Are Gonna Charge Me So Much Interest And £100 Overdraft Charge On The 17/03/2007....
Question: Can I Include This £100 Charge In My Claim As At The Moment It's In The Future And Not Been Applied, But Will Be In 17 Days????????0 -
Hi
I am claiming £1,373.86 (which includes the 8%) from Abbey. Filed my claim for court action via moneyclaim on the 20th of Feb. Today received;
1. an acknowledgement of service that has been filed. i take it Abbey have 28 days from this to file a defence?
2. a letter from Abbey stating i provided no details how i arrived at the bank charges figure or details of the interest.i used an online tool as provided by CAG (excel). they are asking for these details. should i re-send a copy of the charges and interest calculations? plus should i have sent a copy in with my claim, even though i applied for court action online?
thanks0 -
Hello!
I got £1700 (ish) back from Royal Bank of Scotland...
I wrote the letter in November and then worried about the account closure and if i even had enough charges to recoup - got my statements around first week in feb and added up £1700! So I wrote the letter asking for that and the interest - THANKS for the templates - and received a letter on Saturday - that's two weeks..the first page looked liek they were going to say no but it was just a bit of a disclaimer and as a goodwill gesture(ahem) they have given me the whole lot - stating they will have to look at my account should I ask again..no fear! I'm so happy! and am spreading the news.

Hi!
I sent a letter to A&L requesting list of charges as I had a loan with them. This loan was settled in 2004 but I know I definately missed quite a lot of payments on this loan as I got into a bit of a state.
However, I received this reply from them yesterday:
"I understand you were requesting details of any charges which were incurred on the above personal loan account which was completed in 2004.
I can confirm that no administration charges or fees were applied during the life of this account"
I presume they couldn't lie about this but don't understand how they haven't made any charges when I missed a lot of payments.
Has anyone else had a loan with them around 2004 and if so, did you get charged for missing payments etc?
Any advice on what to do next? Do I just take there word or ask for a full copy of statements? Don't want to pay a fee if they are correct though0 -
I have sent away the first template letter requesting my charges for the last five years, (Scottish Law), i have received details of all my banking details from February 2001 til February 2004!!!
I have written to the bank requesting that my original request be fulfilled, ie the last FIVE YEARS, statements. I have also instructed them to return my request at their earliest opportunity.
I have informed them that as my original request was not fulfiled then i should not be entitled to pay another £10 admin fee for the information.
Have i done the right thing?
Is this a stalling tactic by the bank?

Hi
Thanks for the website. I have sent it to several colleagues.
I have filed the small claim via Moneyclaim for the Royal Bank of Scotland. I used the local branch address for the claim - is this right? The local branch is in England.
This is the first claim. A small one to learn the process - then we proceed with the children's accounts which are circa £2000 or each (5 kids!).0 -
How do people who have no access to the internet claim their charges back? I would imagine this would encompass some of the very poorer people. These would be the ones that need the information most. Where do they get their template letters etc?0

Local branch is fine. Royal Bank seem to be dealing with claims quite quickly.0
