A few years ago we incurred hundred of pounds in bank charges from nationwide when OH's salary went in a day late on a couple of occasions and about 20 odd cheques hit the day before at around £25 a cheque!(we were living very close to the wire in those days). Went in to branch, but they refused to refund, as they had refunded a charge at some point in the past. I paid them when this happended the first time, but on the second occasion decided this wasn't possible and offered them half as full and final settlement. They accepted, so now I presume this offer I made will preclude me from going back to reclaim any of the others?
    Thanks for any advice

no, you can still make a claim minus the refunds that have been made to your account.
  • Bank: Halifax :p
    Amount reclaimed: £1755
    Amount repaid: £1755

Never imagined how easy it would be to reclaime my money. It was only after reading Martins tips on how to reclaim bank charges that i decided to try.
I didnt send of for past bank statements as when sorting out my cupboards I realised I had 12 months of bank statements.
It has only taken 3 weeks from me sending the first letter to recieving the offer. I would like to thank Martin and this website as I would not have known how to get the money back otherwise.
anybody thinking about reclaiming bank charges, go for it youll be surprised how easy it is :j

If you have accepted this as full and final settlement then you cannot claim again for these charges.

How are they messing you about? Did you send a Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act? If they haven't returned the information within 40 days, then write to the Data Commissioner and let them know the bank is i breach. Also tell the bank you are doing so, you'll often find your charge information suddenly appears!
