Hi folks.
New tactics by Lloyds TSB. No replying to letters.... WOW what a surprise...
Being lucky to have closed account in 2003 so not being forced to look for an alternate bank.
Do you think they will seek a way to sell my 10000 shares in Lloyds that were left to me

Good Evening All,
Hope everyone is well. Im a new boy to this site, (be gentle with me), and was slightly confused about these unfair bank charges, and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it.
1. Does the unfair bank charges include the interest that the bank has charged ie: o/d interest charged per month..?, and also
2. Are the unfair bank charges the o/d excess fee, returned d/d and returned s/o.....
Can anyone help....??
Fantastic site by the way.....0 -
Bank:Abbey
Amount claimed: £1250.00
Amount Paid: £1250.00
Started out the end of October 06. Got court date for the 1st May 2007 already had a GWGO of £500.00 and called Abbey today 22.02.07 to ask if they wanted to settle before I prepared my court bundle. The said they would call me back within half an hour, and did, to offer the remaining £750.00 which of course I accepted.
Now going to dump shabbey and move to A & L.0 -

CLAIMED £2400
OFFERED £1800
I have gone through Martins step by step guide as i am trying to reclaim £2400 back from Natwest plus £120 court costs. I received an offer from them offering me £1800 and to be honest i would of accepted this , but it came the day before they were served with the court papers and as it was a saturday i couldnt cancel it so i thought why not go all the way?
i am now at the stage where the have aknowledged the claim and have now a further 14 days to form a defence. I will admit i am getting a bit worried now and wondering whether i should give them a call or should i just stick it out? I think from reading the offer i have 8 weeks to reply or i may of read that wrong? I see lots of people have had lots of offers but i have only had the one!
Could do with some advice from people who have been in this waiting game.
Karen
You can settle this matter at any time if both sides agree. If you think you'd like to accept - and it does seem a good offer - you can write and accept making it clear your offer rs 'without prejudice' and that you will cease your court action when you receive the dosh.0 -

Hi
1 - the answer is no as far as the interest goes - you wouldn't have grounds under the regulations as you have borrowe dthe money.
2 - yes they are. Unpaid DDs, SOs returned cheques, unauthorised overdraft fees, and those fees they charge for clearing items when you have insufficient funds.
At some point there is going to be a ruling on all this so I'd get moving on it now!

If you have that many shares you could at least take some consolation in the fact that your dividends contain a very very small share of the excess profit they have made! And no they can't take your shares off you.0 -
Paul,
Thanks for the reply. I take it the charges are o/d excess fees..?? Thats what i have on my account, unfortunately nearly every month....I did have unpaid D/D, S/O, and the most was the O/D excess fees...
Thanks0 -

I have today received a letter from the Abbey... I have claimed £2916.50 however the letter is stating that they have carried out a full investigation into the matter and although the charges were correct they, as a good will gesture they will credit my account with £180. I only received the letter this morning even though dated the 9th feb and they have already credited my account with the £180.
They also stated in the letter the standard blarb that when opening the account i was provided with their terms and conditions and was gven regular updates on their charges etc and that they are satisfied that the charges do not contravene unfair terms in consumer contracts regulations 1999 and that they also comply with the office of fair trading in dealing fairly and openly with their customers.
Where does this leave me know, i want to continue to the last stage which would be the courts having gone through all the other letters and processes however with them refunding me the £180 where do i stand with that??
Many thanks
Nicky
Write back to them stating "thankyou for your reply........blah,blah" that you accept the £180 as part payment ONLY of the £2916.15 claim and tell them that you will commence court claim in seven days for the remainder because you find this amount unsatisfactory.0
