Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Bank: Nationwide
Amount Claimed: £760.00
Amount Paid Back: £760.00 (plus £80.00 court fee)
Nationwide responded to my letter stating I had signed my terms and conditions which advise I will be charge for going overdrawn and direct debits being issued with insufficient funds. They did not respond to my comments of unlawfully high charges nor provide evidence of their costs.
After the 14 days, I applied online to the County Court (so easy!) and received notification that Nationwide's Solicitor would be defending my claim in full.
Within 3 more days I received a basic letter from Nationwide advising they had credited my account with £840.00 (including the court fee) and were removing the pending charge on my account.
This has just spurred me on to deal with the others!
This also proves the banks are not too big for the individuals to take on! You just need to be confident!0 -
Bank Natwest
Claimed £2695
Paid £2695
I downloaded the template letter and sent to bank on 29th Jan 2007, was just about to send off the second letter, when on the 15th Feb I recieved a letter from natwest offering the full amount0 -

Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank
Claimed £656.25 (incl interest & £80 court fee)
Paid 100%
I wrote to A&L 3 times requesting repayment of punitive fees. They were adamant that the fees were fair. Had to resort to Money Claim Online. The claim was issued on 15th, I received a cheque for full amount on 19th from their solicitors, with a veiled threat of account closure. So far no action on closing the account. FANTASTIC!!! THANK YOU MSE.com.

Is it possible to claim back charges from an account that was closed? The reason I closed my account was because I was very annoyed when I was charged £20 for 3 days for my account being overdrawn by £2. I was a student at the time so £60 was half my monthly budget and when I went into to explain this the response was that it was all computer automated so its just tuff lucky and that there was no chance of getting my money back. I would take so much pleasure in claiming my money back from the money grabbing bank!0

Had no problems and could not believe we were actaully considering backing out at the Court hurdle as the cost was £120.00 to register the claim but we went ahead and we WON!!!!!

No I have not received my statements yet.
I sent the sample first letter almost exactley0 -
Almost exactly but presumably without an amount of your charges that you are claiming for? You need to work that out from your statements before you go any further.0

Yes you can claim on a closed account. Please read Martin's article and the Reclaim Help Thread linked to in my signature.0 -

Hi,
Yes, Cobbetts requested it along with a number of other things, they ask about a dozen questions, and it was one of those. I followed the proccess on the website step by step, I sent the list of charges in with the first and second letter. When it got to the court stage there was no place for it to be sent/submitted.
When I received the request for further info, I posted the question on here and was told to await instruction from the court. I was also told that lots of the questions they asked were bullying tactics, and were quite common.
So to answer your question, I have submitted a schedule of charges, but only to Natwast and not the court/Cobbetts.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks
Steve0
