ianian99 wrote:my brother in law satrted his claim back about six months ago and got to the stage of refusing and offer of a third of the amount and told them he was taking it to court if they did not pay in full whicjh there reply was basically "take us to court"
Anyway for 1 reason and another he never got to the court stage.
He was round this morning asking if he could still take it to court or would he need to start it all over again.
I would send them a letter referring to your previous correspondance giving them 7 days to reconsider. Then start the court proceedings.0 -
Never_Again wrote:I would like to claim back around £1600 of unfair charges from HSBC. I no longer have my current account with them but do have a managed loan of around £15,000. Will they try to claim this money back from me if I proceed?
If your loan account is in order they shouldn't touch it.0 -
i provided my account details, but i'm sure they can't start the 40 days from receipt of the I.D, when it took 26 days to request the I.D.

Bank: Lloyds TSB
Amount Reclaimed:£4300.odd
Amount they paid:in full
The story: First letter was not successful. I then wrote an absolute beauty of a letter (Even if i do say so myself), in absolute and complete detail outlining all the current evidence and statements from the Chief Ombudsman. It helped that i have a Law Degree too those three letters after my name do come in handy now and again.
Just a word of warning tho. I accepted but did not claim Interest. Make sure you calculate the interest at the start of your claim or the banks may refuse to take it into account at a later date.

From HBOS
Asked for £39
Paid £39
Dated back 2 years, but I just wrote to them and said I'd been following the 'unlawful' charges debate with interest and how would they feel about paying back a bounced cheque charge. They sent a grumbly letter but paid up immediately.0 -
I have had all charges refunded on my mothers account, she went in to the red by very small amounts i.e. £3.00/£8.00 and was charged £28 each time. NatWest Bank. Many thanks0

Can anyone help pls. I am trying to reclaim charges on a business account from hsbc. I sent the 1st letter but they have said that I need to split the charges and remove any charges that relate to Money Transmission and other charges incurred.
What do they mean by this?
I have listed all the charges in the chart provided0 -
Bank: Co-op Bank
Amount Reclaimed: £244
Amount Paid: £244
Sent letter 1st February, replied 7th February, sorry to hear unhappy with their service. We will respond within 7-10 days. Letter dated 19th February,
as a gesture of goodwill we have credited your account with the full amount.
I have had a successful conclusion with Tesco Personal Finance (Royal Bank
Of Scotland) I will not disclose the amount claimed as their letter paying the
full amount plus court fee and interest suggests that I keep the terms of this settlement strictly private and confidential and not to court publicity.
Anyone with a claim agaisnt the RBS should address correspondence for settlement to Group Litigation, 1 Princess Street, London, EC2R 8PB0 -
Bank: Nationwide Building Society
Amount Reclaimed: £120.35
Amount they paid: £120.35
The story: The usual "go away" letters in response to the letters before action. Filed online claim form, which Nationwide acknowledged. However, 16 days later, they paid up in full. Thank you MSE site and users!0
