Bank: Natwest
Amount Owed: £294
Interest: £19.87
Court Charge: £50
Total Recieved: £363.87!
Received my cheque for £363.87 today! Thought Natwest were going to go to the last second before they paid up.:j
I'm so glad I did this, now I can clear my overdraft, stick two fingers to Natwest and never deal with them again!
Thank you Martin :money: . Keep up the good work guys, lets stick it to these capitalist greedy banks and exercise our consumer power.
If you are reading this and don't know whether to go through with it then definately definatley DO. It is really easy if you follow the letters and don't let yourself get spooked.
Good Luck to everyone starting or still in the process.

My husband had an account with NatWest which he has now closed. He was overdrawn a lot (authorised and unauthorised) and incurred lots of bank charges. His statements are all over the place, so looking for the statements here are not going to be time effective (with a 9 week old baby!). So my question are:-
1. Can we still claim for unfair bank charges, even if my husband closed his account?
2. Will we receive the necessary statements if we write to the Bank? Are they liable to charge us for this?
Thanks.0 -
My wife and I both had accounts with Barclays (separate) with overdraft facilities. Unfortunately we encountered financially dire times and had to go to a debt management company for in order to pay back loans and the overdrafts with them and other creditors in such a way that we could afford to do so.
Both Barclays accounts were eventually frozen in 2004 and we are with a different bank (RBS) which offers us a very basic account with no debit or credit card or cheque book.
What I wish to ask is can we claim back bank charges from Barclays now, seeing as we are no longer 'banking' with them as such, as we did incur a LOT of charges with them and we both feel that it might lower the debt we actually owe them from the overdrafts.
Any advice on this?While I breathe.... I hope0 -

Bank: NATIONWIDE
Amount Claimed £3501
Amount Refunded £3501 plus £250 court costs plus £754.95 interest
TOTAL £4505.95
THANK YOU MARTIN FOR YOUR TEMPLATES AND ENCOURAGEMENT IN TAKING ON THE BANKS IT BECAME VERY NERVY WHEN I HAD TO ISSUE COURT PROCEEDINGS ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD CONTEST IT, BUT 12 DAYS BEFORE COURT DAY THEY HAVE PAID UP.
The only fly in the ointment is that they closed my account down in October last year because it was overdrawn and also handed the account to a debt collection agency to collect the overdrawn amount and this is the account the money has been paid into, so where do I go from here
THEY HAVE NOW TOLD ME THEY ARE GOING TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT ON THE 25TH MAY0 -
Hi all.
In the process of reclaiming £5042, from natwest..
Just want to inform anyone else reclaiming from Natwest, that they try every delaying tactic going..
My point is. Dont let them, and stick to the deadlines on Martins site.
My claim has been going on for 3 months now, as i have waited for them, now i finaly sick of waiting and filled in money claim, although i havent yet received an offer ( i have received a call today, saying they will make an offer later today)..
I will keep you posted.
STICK TO YOUR DEADLINES!!!0 -
Hi everyone
I am currently awaiting Halifax to pay up following a summons acknowleged online on the 19th Feb. My friend runs his own business and consequently has been charged excessively by his bank (bank name unknown at this time). He is following my claim keenly but is sceptical about his position due to his account been one of those premier accounts where you pay so much for certain health and insurance benefits etc.
My question is this:
Where does he stand with his benefits if he was to begin a claim? He is worried that he will lose out on any outstanding policies he and his wife have taken out for the business and young family. What can i say to him that will allay his fears and convince him to take the first step?

Bank: FIRST DIRECT
Amount Claimed £192.58
Amount Refunded £157.50
Requested bank statements, worked out all the charges, wrote to the bank listing all the charges with interest on top. Received letter today with settlement figure of £157.50 (this was less the interest which I added on top). Decided to accept their offer & returned declaration form to First Direct. They have not confirmed whether they will close my account after returning the money to me, but if they do I will take the matter to my local MP and the Financial Onbudesman Service if they do.
Many Thanks Martin - :beer:0
