Bank: Halifax
Amount claimed: £1098 inc interest
Amount Received £ 1098 + £180 court fee
The Story
I followed the guidelines to the letter, beginning on the 23rd December by requesting my statements. After I made my request for he money back I recieved a polite acknowledgement and a refusal from Halifax. I pressed on and used money claim online, cocked it up in my haste and issued a claim against myself! This caused a few days delay as I had to resubmit the claim and cancel the first one.
I received a letter from the halifax offering me £380 but I had already started court proceedings so I rang them to tell them 'thanks but No Thanks'.
They paid the money into my account on the 13th day after the claim was served, one day before they needed to file an acknowledgement. I received a letter about a week later to confirm the payment.
Start to finish the whole thing took less than 2 months. It was hassle free and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Thanks to Martin, all the other money savers who inspired me to do it and a big thankyou to 'Howard' at Halifax, he really did give me Xtra!

Good old internet banking!!! I can go back to June 2002 to view my charges.
This has saved the 40 day wait to get my charges back from the bank(and £10).
I have printed off the second letter and put the bank charges into a spreadsheet, ready to send recorded delivery tomorrow.
I have two bank accounts. On the first account i am claiming £2,394 and my second account i am claiming for £1910. I will send each claim separately though.
Hope they do not alter my special repayment plan i have with them for my personal loan(a missold loan)(I have not defaulted with payments since the new agreed monthly fee 2 years ago).
Here's hoping!!!!
