I have asked for a list of charges against my Halifax account which I closed a year or so ago will they still let me claim this money back, they cashed the £10 cheq 2 weeks ago but have yet to reply.
Secondly the natwest cashed my chq this week although i sent a letter 4 weeks ago.
Are these both delay tactics0 -
I see the 'ambulance chaser'-type insurance companies are on to this. I've just received an unsolicited offer from a website called **website removed**who will do it all for you - for nothing! Oh yeah. We all know we don't get owt for nowt. They say ... "and we'll tell you for FREE if you're in line for a pay-out. Unlike most companies we'll even pay the £10 to get your statements for you*. You could be laughing all the way to the bank"
*Subject to acceptance
Thank you, Martin - for showing us how to do it for ourselves.0 -
Bank: Halifax
Amount Claimed: £2,995 plus interest
Amount Received: £2,581
I wrote a letter three weeks ago, on behalf of my partner, requesting all unlawful bank charges be refunded. He received a letter approx 10 days later saying they were passing it onto another department. To our delight, he received a letter today with an offer of £2,581 as a goodwill gesture! This is a very satisfactory settlement, and he is not going to take it any further. I cannot believe how straight forward this process has been.
Since I first visited your website we have caught the budget fever and have managed to start a savings account and to break the viscious cycle of bank charges. However, we are getting married in 9 weeks and this settlement money could not have come at a better time. I cannot thank Martin and this website enough for the superb and clearly set out advice provided, you really have made a difference in our lives!

Hi
Thank you for your reply, in case my 'thankyou' button did not work! I will call them next week as it is fast nearing the deadline date. Are they likelyto carry out my request? Otherwise I have to contact the Info Commissioner, but hopefully this will work? Sorry to bother you again, but I am fast losing my nerve bu don't want to give up!
Thank you0 -
Has anyone reclaimed charges from credit card companies with which you still have a high balance? I was charged up and would obviously like to claim it back but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot and find they ask me to pay off the balance.
I know I could transfer the balance to a new card but I won't have high enough limit on my credit cards to transfer the whole balance.0 -

No it won't matter as they will pass it on but do allow time for that to happen.0
