Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £800
Amount they paid: £800 + £80 online claim charge
The story:
Halifax paid up as soon as they received the online claim. Initially they offered me around £250, which I refused.
I'd like to say thanks to Martin for publicising this, I am very happy with the result. These charges were taken from me when I was at University and caused me considerable problems. Serves them right!0 -

Natwest: Amount claimed £1172.39 (with interest)Hi there, this is my first ever post and I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Martin and everyone else on this site who had offered advice about reclaiming charges, as you can see from above, I have had an offer of full settlement, minus the interest, from Natwest, which I am willing to accept.
Amount received £1009.00 (full claim without interest): :T
The whole process took five weeks and cost me a grand total of 64p (for stamps!) First letter sent 8th Jan, second letter sent 22nd Jan, received Natwest's offer today. I'm over the moon, this will come off my overdraft but it still means I'm a grand less in debt!
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, I'm so pleased I decided to go for it. I'm telling anyone who will listen about this site, and would encourage anyone to get those letters sent!
Very happy bunny. :j0 -
Started process in December First Two letters received replies from customer service saying they are unable to assist having considered matter fully. Filled in court claim 1st Feb off site link, very easy process. Received notification from court that service date would be 7th Feb. Received letter dated 7th off Alliance and Leicester Solicitors in response to court claim offering Full amount of claim plus fees and a cheque.
Bank charges of £1152 claimed interest. Cheque for £1364.16.
Thankyou for your help and guidance. How do we go about nominating you for a knighthood.:T :T :T0 -

Bank : The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc.
Amount Claimed : £1500
Amount Offered & Accepted : £1250
I wrote to the bank with my first request for a refund & received a letter saying 'sorry, but no...'. I wrote with the second letter & received no response. I filed my online claim on the 9th & received a letter in the post today (dated 7th February) from the bank offering me £1250, which I see as a very fair offer! I am going to accept & get to keep my account also.
I do however, need to close my claim online now...you only seem able to do that though if you have received the amount requested in full? I have emailed MCOL so await a response. Very happy with my result though! :rotfl:
Thankyou to Martin & this website for giving so much valuable information regards this subject! :T

Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland
Amount charged:£1578.70
Amount Refunded: £1848.07 (includes £269.37 interest)
Story:
1. Luckily still had all the old bank statements. Went through them and totted up the total
2. Used the online calculator to work out the interest
3. Used the 'first letter with interest' template and sent it to the local branch on 16 December 2006
4. Early Jan received a 'please be patient with us whilst we look into your details' letter from head office.......
5. 7 Feb received an offer of a full refund including interest! Signed the form and put it in the post quick, money will be paid directly into the RBS bank account.
6. No threat from RBS of closing the account, just that all future charges will remain and they reserve the right to withdraw facilities like overdrafts in the future if we try to make another claim. Easy peasy!:j
