  • Just got a letter from NAtwest.

    It read:

Page 1 blah, blah, we levy fair charges etc. We don't accept your complaint.

Page 2: However, as a gesture of goodwill a refund of the £575 I claimed. The whole lot!!!! Clears my overdraft totally!!!

I sent them my 14 day letter on 28th Dec...gave them some extra time and they have coughed up. I am so chuffed!! I thought this was a long-shot, but I would encourage anyone to do it. And they didnt close my account either (but said they might if I do this again (whatever)).

I used the letters from the CAG website - was dead easy.

I hope the scoend account I claimed on is only a few days behind - I'll let you know.

    Go get em!!

The story: Sent 14 day letter just under three weeks ago. Manager phoned me on day 10 offering £1500. I declined offer and told him that he until the 14 days were up to refund or I would take them to court and claim interest on top of it. Paid up no problem. Money paid into my acocunt yesterday, 18 days after I made initial claim. Was worried about going the Court route as am based in England and my bank is in Northern Ireland but they spared me the trouble!

Letter arrived today with the above offer. In all around 3 weeks only from my initial contact to this offer and a request that this would once and for all complete any claim against them on this matter. Well impressed!! The £600 difference is annoying but I will have a new kitchen out of this! So thanks to you Martin!! whooohooo!:j

  • Bank:THE ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND
    Total Amount Reclaimed:£1491.35
    Amount they paid:£1491.35

The story: I saw Martin on morning TV over a year ago now, I decided to try his methods as I was sick of my bank putting me into overdraft every month because of their unlawful charges.
It was a hard slog, I must have had five computer generated replies from my initial letters (Sent 5 using the templates I found on the links on this website-Thank you Martin) to give them a chance to pay up without having to go to court-bank manager basically telling me-no chance sucker!! Then they refunded me £342.00 on 20th June 2006 (without predjuduce)
I finally got really angry on receiving the sixth-go forth and multiply letter and the red mist descended, I downloaded the link for working out the schedule (Thanks to vampiress) and proceeded to input the information needed to work out exactly how much they owed me (Including 8%-the £342.00) IT WAS A STAGGERING £1,833.35 - £342.00 = £1491.35 (I ADDED £99.00 FOR INTEREST AT 8%) WHICH CAME TO A TOTAL OF £1591.34. I sent the letter and schedule marked LAST LETTER BEFORE ACTION on 10th January 2007 , and received a reply that they were considering my claim and would respond to me as soon as possible-dated 16 January 2007.
I would like to report that they then sent me a letter a couple of days later stating that their position was they had every right to charge me, but in the interest of customer relations (after telling me that I could always go elsewhere-had that base covered thenks to martin ha haa) they would like to refund me £1491.35 but I would have to sign a form stating that my claim was paid in full.
This I duly did (after reading it very carefully to make sure that they were not hiding a "you can not make any further claims in the event of more !!!!!! Turpin activity from us" clause in the form.
I now have been refunded in full for the illegal charges they nicked from me and am incredibly happy with the outcome.
If you are having trouble getting through to your bank, persevere, even if you have to take them to court (can be done Online Via links from this site) keep at it, you are in the right and deserve to get your hard earned money back.
Onward and upward-Lloyds TSB have started ignoring my letters to them-I can feel the red mist descending!!!

Rolling total now £34,188.10 - keep it going!
  • Bank : Lloyds TSB
