  • Bank : The Royal Bank of Scotland
Amount claimed - £670 plus interest
    Amount received - £670

Process was quite quick, sent first letter in December 2006. The bank did cash the £10 cheque unlike HSBC, but got a long winded letter saying it wasn't their fault etc but they would pay.
Only got Citicards left now - they are being a bit shady tho, have already sent threat of court letter as first reply was saying they were not to blame blah, blah.
    ROLLING TOTAL - £4620:rotfl: :j :rotfl:
  • First letter sent to HSBC on 12th Jan 2007.

    Claimed £3086 (with interest)

Letter recieved this morning (less then 3 weeks) with offer for settlement of £2060. Offer accepted!!!!

    Fantastic website, thank you!

    ROLLING TOTAL - £6680
  • Bank: Halifax
    Charges:£790 and £156
    Paid: £790 and £156
    Story:
Started off with template begining of Dec 06
Received copy of lots of statements within a couple of weeks
Sent off request again less than 3 weeks ago
Phone call received yesterday offering £500 and £75
Very tempting but decided to refuse.
I had also added interest onto charges but agreed that I would not pursue them.
Letter in post today offering full amount!

I am also pursing a few other credit card accounts.
Would you believe Halifax and Sainsburys - their letters are written by the same person!
However they have stated that there is no way they will refund the charges, so looks like i'll need to take those further.

My advise would be to keep going, it takes a lot of time and effort but in the end you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Thanks Martin your pages are brill!

    The story:
Got as far as letter before action when Halifax replied with thier first offer of £400, OH phoned and haggled them up to £700. That was yesterday- recieved the acceptance form today and expect the cash within 10 days.

Off to do mine now, haven't had charges for years but there was one summer when i was a student and the cheque book got a hammering so I can't wait to get my statements!

  • Bank: Ikea (Ikano Financial Services Ltd)
    Amount Reclaimed: £140
    Amount they paid: £140

The story: Old store card from 2 years ago. Various late payment charges. After first letter they sent an offer for 50% of claim (£70) i refused and sent them a second letter giving 7 days before court action…their time was up tomorrow. This morning acceptance letter arrived for me to sign and return for £140 which I have just done.

One down, Halifax, Barclays & Capital One still on the go. Egg and Black Horse left to start now!

Thanks for all your help everyone!
