Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Bank: Natwest
Amount reclaimed: £3,616
Amount refunded: £3,616
Story: Very easy to be honest - they paid up after the second letter giving them 14 days or I would start court proceedings. I kept it polite but firm, using Martin's letter template, with a full set of statements with each charge highlighted, plus a spreadsheet listing each charge as described on the statements (probably overkill, but it worked) - and they paid on the 14th day!0 -

Dear All,
I'm after some advice.
My partner managed to claim ALL his money back from HSBC, it was smooth sailing, no probs at all.
Now, I started my claim with Lloyds TSB at the same time (Oct 2006) and they're still being a pain in the bum. I am claiming around £2100 and a few days ago I got a letter with their 'final offer' of £715 which they then credited on my account. I never accepted the offer it just appeared on my bank account.
I phoned HQ today and enquired about this ridicilous offer; I was told this was their goodwill gesture and I am more than welcome to take them to court. I told them I'd do so to which the guy said that I may win this case (or may not) but they are in the process of coming to an agreement with the Office of Fair Trading regarding these bank charges and he was pretty positive about a 'happy outcome' for the banks. He said they're expecting the 'positive' decision in a month or so.
So what do you think? Is it just the usual BS  to scare law abiding citizens away? I surely don't wanna go to court and find myself to be the first mug who lost her case against banks. Is it likely to happen or is this their new tactics?
I am ready to go on moneyclaim in the next hour or so but thought I'd ask you wise people...
Surely if they were so bloody sure about the 'positive outcome' for them they wouldn't have paid £715???
What do you think?
Thanks,

Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed:£1549.00
Amount they paid: agreed £1350.00
The story: Halifax had offered me £820 on Friday after I originally claimed £1549. I declined this offer and as the conversation went badly was ready to go to court.
However, after speaking with a different person this morning who was helpful and listened to my case, I have agreed to accept £1350.00 as full final settlement. This is 87% of what I asked for. I need the money quickly as it is a lot to me now (I have started up a business).
I could have seen it out to the end and gone through MCOL, but was satisfied that £1350.00 was fair when all is said and done.
Of course I need to sign papers and wait a week or so for the money to be paid to me, but I feel great now.

I submitted my court claim last night towards Nationwide.. can anyone advise me on what will happen now?
Also, sending my letter today to Halifax for charges over £3500 - do I send it to the local branch or head office? Whats the success story with Halifax?

Either he has an insider at the OFT, he's heard something on the grapevine in the bank or he's speaking out of his backside. I know which I'd go for.I surely don't wanna go to court and find myself to be the first mug who lost her case against banks. Is it likely to happen or is this their new tactics?
It's very unlikely you would actually end up in court. If you follow the procedure, you should be able to claim the remiander.Surely if they were so bloody sure about the 'positive outcome' for them they wouldn't have paid £715???
Exactly, banks don't have that much goodwill unless they *know* they're in the wrong.0 -

Just make sure you stick to the templates and procedures and everything should be fine. Don't try to skip steps or rush and the process is fairly straightforward. People are getting money back every day.
Have a look at this thread for details of the small number of cases that did go to court and some outcomes:
