Staute of Limitation applies - you can only claim 6 years.......has anyone had any success claiming back charges on business accounts ? We moved from RBS because of the ridiculous charges - we went through a bad patch and got absolutely cained in charges by them.....0 -

BARCLAYS BANK

Hi everyone. Sent off my 1st letter today. Just a thought here. I sent the letter 1st class recorded so it "should" arrive tomorrow which is a Saturday. The account holding branch (it isnt my local branch as I moved away about 6 years ago) is closed on Saturdays. Does that mean that the postman/woman will try deliver it again on Monday?Bank charges reclaimed: HSBC £1990
2007 Competition Challenge: Target £150
So far...£373.48 (MS Office 2007 Professional Edition) and a rizla tinI smell roses, but all I hear is flies0 -
Thanks to this web site, I have just successfully received a letter from my bank detailing that they will be crediting my bank account with £1085 within the next 7 days!
If your thinking of reclaiming your charges, I would definetly advise you to do it! All I had to do was post 2 letters! Absolultly no phone calls!
12 December - I posted my first letter to the bank requesting the past 6 years statement along with a cheque for £10.
20 December - I received a letter acknowledging my request and explaining that my statments would be in the post shortly (with this letter I also received my cheque back as they were going to provide this service for free).
28 December - I received an exceptionally large number of envelopes though the door, which to my excitement were the statements.
3 January - I posted a letter to the bank requesting a total of £1200 in bank charges plus aprox £300 in interest.
24 January - I received a final letter explaining that the bank were offering me a settlement figure of £1085 which I have subsequently accepted as it is within £100 of the total cost of my original charges.
At first I was very sceptical, and so were my friends and family (I think many of them thought I was mad to even expect a response) but after just 6 weeks, my bank account looks £1085 healthier and many of my firends and family are now asking what to do!
Don't hesitate, write to your bank today!0 -
weekenny wrote:I am about to send my 2nd letter to BOS, I live in Falkirk. How would i find out what court to put on my letter where i would be claiming these back should they fail to respond.
My charges amount to £1769, so i would not be able to go through small claims court.
Thanks
You can split your claim into 2/3 parts. Read this website regarding claiming in Scotland.

tashimoto7 wrote:Hi there, I have just been totalling up my charges and interest with the calculator, do I then charge 8% on top of that or is the calculator already doing that for me?
Also, can I claim back further than 6 years? I know I can't get bank statements over 6 years old.
Many Thanks
The Calculator is already doing it for you.

Bank Natwest
Amount claimed £1087
Amount settled £977
Followed steps up until court process. Bank asked me to be patient while they looked into it. I phoned after 2 weeks and negotiated a settlement minus the interest. Easy money. Anyone whois thinking of doing this must do it.0 -
Bank: Nationwide
Amount Claimed: £3408.50 plus 263.93 int
Amount Paid: £3842.87(inc the above, plus £120 court fee and £50.44 in pending charges!!
The story: My hubby heard Martin on the radio, so we said nothing to lose and went for it. Nationwide took us as far as filing MCOL and that they acknowledged our claim saying they intended to defend! Then out of the blue, a few days later, we got mysterious deposits in our account, (strangely enough it covered the interest claimed and the Court fee!), then a letter arrived from Mr Huntley saying they've refunded the charges claimed, interest, Court fee and pending charges!!! :j So don't worry, go for it you will get your money back! (Actually I feel a little cheated cos I wanted to send in the Bailiffs like that Chappie in the paper the other day, oh well you can't have everything!) A HUGE HUGE THANK YOU TO MARTIN AND THE ADVICE ON THIS SITE AND TO CAG AND THE OTHER WEBSITES.:T0
