    Company : Monument credit card
    Amount claimed: £216
    Amount settled: £108

In brief,i wrote to them asking for statements etc all replied to within the time schedule.Sent letter asking for above amount 7 days ago.Today got letter oferring half the amount.Going to accept for 2 reasons

    1) still owe morethan the above and dont want my account closed

    2) got more claims with Abbey and Capital one who i owe nothing.

Bottom line,i am now £108 better off all thanks to this great site

Hi, I have in the past paid many late fees for credit cards which I no longer own, is it possible to write to the companies to find out my charges even if I dont know my account number.

Yes you can, send your name, address at the time and your date of birth to help them trace your accounts.
  • hi i recieved all the charges on my account with bank of ireland this morning and it listed referal item charges for missed direct debits as follows:

    04/12/06 £19
    02/06/05 14.50
    02/06/04 £11.50
    28/04/03 £9
    26/03/03 £9
    22/01/03 £7
    11/11/02 £7
    14/11/02 £14

i remember being charged £30 and £35 for missed dd but they don't appear in the print out i was sent
also my print out starts off on the 16/03/01 instead of 01/01/01 and shows CACS WRITEOFF of £418.88 which was all fees which i paided off monthly after this date,
can any one tell me what CACS WRITEOFF means and why is there missing fees on the printout, and can i claim these fees back, im very confused because i know they have had more money than this off me
    thanks
  • Best phone your bank to find out exactly what the charges are and what they mean by CACS WRITEOFF. Also ask them why there are missing fees and ask if they can send you copy statements with the full charges on.
  • i went to the bank this morning and the manager said he was too busy to see me

With credit cards do you rwite to the head office to obtain your past statements?
  • 8% Statutory Interest. I have used Martins calculator, and the interest 2 weeks ago for one of my claims was then £300, but today is £320!! Nice to see that figure increasing literally by the day.

Assuming that my claim ends up in court. At what stage is a final figure on what interest gets paid decided. Is it the amount I claim for when the claim is submitted?

    thanks in advance.

If you claim online. Put your figures in the calculator just before you claim, and put these figures for your charges+interest. You will also claim for 'interest at a daily rate of'.........for this, you multiply the amount of your charges (with no interest added) by .00022. This will be the daily amount the claim will increase by if you end up in front of a judge.

Chances are the bank will settle before you see a judge, and you will be paid charges+interest you stated on the court claim+court fee. You don't get the daily rate added in this case.
