Natwest closed my account last Jan and I'm still subsquently trying to pay off my overdraft - can I still reclaim charges from an account that's been shut??? They've charged me hundreds over the past 6 years!!!0

Hi All,
I've had a good look round the site and CAG info with regard to claiming back business account charges, and just wanted to check the procedure. I have worked out the charges and looked in the libraries for an initial letter template, but can only find the LBA. Do I still send an initial letter for a business account, or just go straight in with the LBA?
Many thanks in advance for your help,

We claimed, we argued, we screamed at them, we rang them every day, we did not take them to court, we pleaded with them.....
And today, after 2 months, we got a letter offering us ("as a gesture of goodwill and without admission of liability or error"  or course. £2,362.21 for our main account and £1033.00 for our other account with them..:D(This is more than we asked for £Requested £3033.00 - Offered £3395.21
RESULT;)
Which we are signing acceptance and sending back in the post today without delay. They will credit to our account which will clear our overdraft and give us a nice tidy sum of just over £450 for our troubles. And they have not asked us to close our account...... yet, however we are now fully up and running in our new account - we have no overdraft and are going to keep a close eye on everything in the future.
Thanks to this site we are now back on track and sorting finances out at last.:T :T :T

Bank: First Direct
Amount Reclaimed: £556.50 plus £153.33 interest
Amount they paid: £556.50
The story: Very easy. I followed Martin's step-by-step guide and began by writing to the bank enclosing a cheque for £10 which they returned saying that they did not charge for this service - thanks fd. I then sent them the first letter which they acknowledged and just yesterday they sent me the letter saying "they are confident of their position etc. etc." followed closely by "However, we are mindful of the management time and legal costs involved etc. so here, without any admission of liability whatsoever is our offer".
I would say that I claimed WITH INTEREST and their settlement figure was WITHOUT INTEREST but hey, I'm happy.
Chuffed as a monkey naturally :rotfl: . THANKS MARTIN - YOU ROCK!!0 -
Bank- Nat West
Amount claimed - £1632.....£401 of which was interest.
Amount Paid - £1231..........All charges over six years minus interest.
Thanks Martin, very easy to claim, only sent two letters. No admission of wrong doing but a 'gesture of good will' . Thanks!
Just for info, I included the standard monthly charge of £28 for exceeding o/d limit and they have agreed to pay. I decided to take the offer without interest just for ease.
That's the family holiday paid for!!!:T
