Hi
Has anyone had any luck with MBNA? I have a credit card with them and have incurred some charges, usually in the £25 - 30 region. From reading the forum, I gather the maximum amount able to reclaim is limited to £12.00 or have i got it completely wrong?
Also, are store cards covered in this area?Gettting there!

After getting as far as filing my claim on mcol - Halifax have agreed to pay my charges of £3457 plus my court fees of £120 if i stop court action.
They initially offered me £2030 after letter before action was sent - but when i phoned and said this is not acceptable the nice lady on the phone asked me how much i would consider to be acceptable - i replied "all of it plus my court costs but minus the interest"
Would like to say a big thankyou to all on this site and to Martin for championing the cause on GMTV which spurred me into action - ive just moved into an old Victorian House which needs a LOT of decorating so this money has really come along at the right time!!!!! :money: :T  :j :j0 -

Go for it Lou, dont be put off by their delay tactics, they know they have to pay out or disclose their true costs - which so far none of the banks have been willing to do - Good Luck :hello:0 -
OK I'm very new to this so please bear with me, we have an account with the Halifax debit electron card account, who have been taking charges on and off for the last 6 years,
my questions are,
1 do we have to open another bank account as having a low income, we certainly don't meet the £1000 minimum deposit a month required to open bank accounts, infact being self employed at times its sometimes hard to even find the £500 to open an account, also which is the best bank to switch to if needed,
2 do we need to inform any companies that we have direct debits with, first before we take action as we have quite a few and I'm worried that they will just close our account and leave us high and dry
3 does it always go to court, bearing in mind we have to scratch about finding the money to go to court presumably before there is any pay out thats if there is one,
4. we don't have any overdraft facility so can they refuse saying that it was part of the terms if we do get overdrawn,
what does annoy me is they refuse a direct debit if there wasn't the funds in there (although i do blame some of the companies that we have direct debits with as they never seem to take them out on the same date, so quite often we allow for the fact that say the money came out on the 24th of last month and then find out it came out on the 20th hence we are overdrawn and then charge us £39 for the fact,, three days later if the money isn't in there, i wouldn't mind if they had honoured the direct debit in the first place, but they didn't,
sorry if i have asked questions that have been answered before but i couldn't get a couple of links to work and kept getting error on page,
hope some one cleverer than me can help
thanks0 -

Yes, plenty of people have successfully reclaimed from MBNA.
You can claim the whole amount unless MBNA miraculously come up with evidence of their actual costs.0
