cutesee wrote:hiya i 'm looking for some help. When i started university i opened an HSBC student account with a £1000 overdraft, but after the first year i was up to it and skint so i opened another student account and all my cash went into there.so for the next few years i never touched my HSBC one but they were charging me £15 a month for what i don't know, something to do with it being a normal account since my loan n grant weren't going in there any more.
so my question........can i claim these charges back?
This looks like a service fee for a certain type of account. This is not the same type of charge. You cannot reclaim these fees.
Talk to the bank and ask them why they are charging you. It may be that you are paying for the overdraft facility on the account. At the very least, cancel this and stop this charge being made. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Bank: First Direct
Claimed: £420 plus interest
Received: £390
They had refunded £30 already, so received it all.
First Direct do not pay out the interest, but easily done.
Thanks again Martin & MSE!0 -
BANK: HSBC (Claim 1 of 2)
Amount Claimed: £3264.50
Amount Offered: £2838.00
Story: Have made 2 claims against HSBC and this is the bigger one, They have agreed to settle the charges but not interest which i am happy with, also have 4 other claims in process so will keep you posted.
If it wasnt for Martin's weekly e-mail i would be £2838 poorer at the moment, thankyou

Hi, I have in the past paid many late fees for credit cards which I no longer own, is it possible to write to the companies to find out my charges even if I dont know my account number.0

Thanks for your reply. If I could ask you how far along with the DRA you were? Had you been repaying them regularly? I ask because I have largely ignored all correspondence with them (stupid I know) and wonder if you were in regular contact with them. How long did it take and did they give you written proof that that 'chunk' had been paid? I think in fact that the amount owed to me should easily cover the amount I owe them. I hope this makes sense to you and I'm grateful for your helpGettting there!
