  • A quick question, as some banks have been closing accounts after refunding charges could you say offer to accept partial settlement on the proviso they keep your account open? IE they owe you £1000 you offer to take £800 on this provision?

If you accept a lower offer, they can still ask you to close your account.

But could you accept the lower offer in exchange for a guarantee they wouldn't close your account. Is this possible/likely?
  • As it says in the title i had already closed my account with lloyds tsb when i heard about this, so will i still be able to claim back the cahrges?

    Amount claimed £1784.00
    Amount paid £1784.00

Requested bank statements just before Xmas. Took my time going thru them but sent 1st template letter 2nd January. Received acknowledgment letter from them saying how sorry they were that I felt I had to complain! Received further letter 18th Jan saying that although I was aware of the consequences of going over my overdraft limit, they were willing to repay my charges as it would be too costly for them to go to court - even though they were sure they would win!!
Anyway, I'm not pushing for the interest (a further £300) & have accepted £1784.00.
I'm now helping several friends to reclaim their illegal charges.
Thanks for giving me the confidence to do this, it was easy but I couldn't have done it without you.

Yes, you can claim off a closed account. It is exactly the same process.

If the bank makes a lower offer, you could try asking them if they would accept your condition. Whether they will go for it or not is up to them. I would be surprised if they allow you to attach any conditions to their offer.

  • Co-operative bank paid me in full after first letter well excluding. interest and only took 8 days to pay me do you think I should go for the interest aswell, but they didn’t close my account well not yet anyways. Or should I leave it as they have paid me and they haven’t closed my account. And they didn’t send me any conditions for me to sign just paid the money into my account £3,000 couldn’t believe it
