sorry I don't mean to be really thick but kindly "Andrew 2003" said I can claim charges & fees but not ie the £12 pm for Advantage gold account... My account isn't an advantage gold account but still every month (I have now noticed that even when I wasn't overdrawn at all) there are charges which range from aroun £7 per month to £29 per month - are these standard bank charges which can't be reclaimed or ones that can do you reckon?0

Well, I followed the templates on this very helpful website, and only had to send the one letter (1st one).I received a letter (the day before the 14 days was up) saying that my account will be credited within the next few days with £750 as a refund for the last years charges. It's been 3 working days since the letter was written & dated, no money in my account. But on the whole i believe this to be a success, just got to be patient and wait a few more days for the money to go into my account. A very improtant point, I HAVE NOT had my account closed!0

What does it say on your statement about these charges? It should say what the charge is.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Bank: Lloyds TSB
Amount Reclaimed: £617
Amount they paid: ????
The story: I was due to be in court this morning and when I got home last night I had a letter waiting for me from their solicitors saying the monies were to be paid into my account. Still waiting though - I will be complaining if it's not there by the end of the week.0 -
I've been with the HSBC for over 15 years now, want to try and claim back charges for last 6 years, worked out it's at least £700 just for last year alone!!!!
Problem is, I've got a Graduate Student Account aswell and also just taken out a Professional Studies Loan with HSBC.
If I try and claim back charges could they make me pay back the loan straight away???
We're also very overdrawn at the moment (due to charges, not surprising!!) - is it still ok to claim back charges while we're overdrawn both in our current account and my student account???0 -

I havent yet started tthe process to reclaim my bank charges with HSBC yet as I have a loan with them for about £8000 and a business overdraft of about £1600. Bit nervous to start proceedings as am not sure what will happen if they close down my bank account. Does anybody have any advice on this??
Thanks0 -
I have just sent off my letter to Lloyds to reclaim charges over the past 6 years. My current account has been closed with them for over 6months now.
I still have a credit card with them, im a bit concerned that they may make me pay this off and close it in order to reclaim my charges.
Has anyone experienced this or can adivise me>>>???
Many thanks

Bank: Halifax PLC
Amount Claimed: £1637
Amount Offered: £1637
Sent the origanal letter asking for my money back on 28th Dec, got a letter today saying they'll give me it all back!!0 -
i'm trying to get my charges back from HSBC and it looks like it will be in the thousands, however they shut down my accounts about a year ago when i got an IVA to get them off my back. does this affect my chances? also i went in to see them for my print outs and they claimed that they can charge me £1 for each sheet of print, this will obviously be in the hundreds. i have heard that they cant charge me more than £10 in total under data protection act.
and advise would be great.
PS i cant use my internet banking because the accounts are closed, can i make them reopen them?
