Bank: Abbey National
Amount Reclaimed:£140
Amount they paid: £140
I went into Abbey and asked them to refund overcharges they told me to write to head office the lady was very helpful and also told me that it was actually illegal and they make over 3.5 billion a year on these charges, i closed the account, went home and wrote to them, they wrote back saying it was fair so i printed your acticle off and wrote again stated to them i didnt agree with there decision and to read the arcticle, i then received 3 letters saying please be patient we are investigating this.
i received a letter today saying they still thought it was fair and would still stand by the charges but wanted to give me a goodwill gesture of £140.
so thanx martin your great:T0 -

We claimed over 4 weeks ago to HSBC for £1290
They have now offered a refund of £1150 which we are taking!!0 -
i have recently won against IGroup who basically hid away £600 worth of charges for 4 years until 2 months before the loan was paid off. i refused to pay an they gained a repossesion order against my house.
so i reclaimed the charges, interest on the charges, and their costs amounting to over £3000. they have backed down and have closed the account and are in the process of removing their rights to my house.

WHOOPEEEE!!!! WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!!:j :j :j
I opened the post this morning and the first was a letter from the court saying that NatWest are going to defend the claim I made for the return of my bank charges. That was slightly worrying.
Then I opened the very next letter and a cheque fell out. NatWest have repaid my the charges, plus interest, plus court costs in full, over £700.:T :T
Of course they say that they still think the charges are justified, blah, blah, blah, but it was not worth their while to fight them and I am sworn to secrecy.
Great. I can pay off what's left of my overdraft and start afresh. Brilliant start to the wekend.0 -
Natwest £466 today in the post, less than a week after making the claim through the court.
They made the same excuses we have all heard before, same as the previous poster.
Suck my debit card mr natwest;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

didn't know amount
£110 received
I helped my son out who often overdraws by mistake on his account. He doesn't keep his statements and had no idea how much he'd incurred in bank charges, he's hopeless at managing money and I knew he wouldn't be prepared to try the long haul (he's 22 but still a bit daft with money). As I'd heard about these refunds I drafted a polite letter for him to sign, requesting a full refund of all unlawful charges. About a week or two later he received a reply saying they'd refunded him £110 into his account. He was well chuffed and think this figure was about right! So anyone a bit daunted by the whole process just give it a try.0 - Read the article

Intelligent Finance
Reclaimed £365 including interest and bank charges and they paid up today ! :T
I sent two initial letters and they forcefully denied they were in the wrong and refused to refund.
I took them to court (using the Halifax address as the IF address is in scotland and IF is part of Halifax) and they acknowledged the claim.
Shortly after acknowledging the claim I was surpised to find the amount had been credited to my account!! They didnt even notify me they had done it!0
