Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Hi All
Just sat and gone throught 6 yrs of natwest bank statements..total of £1398!
Was just a bit confused about a few things
1. What interest do we add to this figure?
2. Do we send the initial letter to our local branch where our account is or to head office?
3. Is it all as simple as it sounds- I'm a pretty sceptical that getting this money bank sounds too good to be true
Many Thanks0 -
I have had a reply telling me in other words to get lost. They said the charges were explained in the account terms and conditions and therefore it should not be complaining.
Do I start the online court action or shall I reply to them telling them I will be taking legal action if the charges are not refunded within 7 days?0 -
I don't know if I am the first, but I have made a succesful claim against A&L and have been able to keep my account open.
My account was due to close 'on or around the 1st September'.
I phoned the Alliance and Leicester today because my account had been suspended, spoke to the advisor to complain that I was unable to move money, and my direct debits and standing orders had disapeared. The advisor told me that I had requested that my account be closed because of the bank charges. I then told the advisor that I had not asked for it to be closed and I did not want my account closed or suspended and could she re-instate it. The advisor said she would have to speak to the Closures Department, which she did, I was then told the account would not be closed and she would re-instate all my standing orders and direct debits.
5 minutes after I logged back on to my account and everything was back to normal.
I had complained to the Financial Services Ombudsman and I had also sent a letter telling them I did not want them to close my account.0 -

This one was from my credit card company (the Halifax) and I have given them 14 days to repay the charges or I will start court action.
Got another letter for my bank account claim (also the Halifax). They say I have no case, but have offered £137 as a gesture of goodwill.
I have told them where to go and once again that court action shall be instigated in 14 days time if full settlement is not made.0 -

Seems banks are finaly realising if they continue to close customers accounts they will end up having to pull new customers in. I'm pleased for you as i know its quite a worry. LloydsTSB told me they would not close my account and they haven't done, they gve me all my credit facilities back including overdraft, i'm still amazed at them doing this.0 -
Halifax,
Claimed £180.
Recieved a phone call stating they would offer £60. I said no thanks full amount only. She immediately offered me the full £180 as full and final settlement.
Today I recieved the letter stating they would pay the £180 as soon as i sign this to say it is a full and final settlement of the complaint.
