Bank: HSBC

AMOUNT PAID: £1161
Hsbc paid up.:j Sent 1st letter no reply. Sent second letter then i had a reply saying they would look into it. as they had gone over the time scale i had given them i was just in the process of filling out the money claim form. Was getting worried cos I hadn't got the money for the claim and was thinking of giving up when i received a letter offering £1161. Couldn,t believe it. I accepted as it is not much less than i have claimed for and I really need the money.

Bank: Alliance & Leicester
Amount Claimed: £2138.44 incl. costs and interest
Amount received: £2138.44
I just followed all the steps as per website and got to the stage where I issued court proceedings and hey Bingo! a cheque arrived for the full amount.
Now pursuing Natwest for £2750.
Thanks Martin - Great site!!!0 -
Best to keep below the Small Claims Court limit, otherwise the possibility of losing on some technical point and being ordered to pay their costs could be a big problem.0

Make it clear in writing that you are accepting the payment on account and will still be pursuing repayment of the balance0

rut456 wrote:Hi,
I sent of my letter with a list of bank charges at the start of December, obviously saying they had 14 days to respong (RBS).
I haven't heard anything back but I stupidly didn't send the letter recorded delivery... (I know I probably should have done something at the 14 days but was distracted by Xmas). I thought I would send the letter again, recorded delivery with a cover letter saying basically that I had sent the letter before but will give them the benefit of the doubt that they did not recieve it but that this time I expect to hear back in 14 days, and that the interest I am claiming has gone up accordingly. Do you think this seems reasonable?
Thanks!
Hi, you have to give your bank 40 days to reply not 14, you could always ring them to ask if they havereceived your letter.I don't have a signature yet....0 -

This is incorrect, the 40 days is when you are asking for all the Data/statements held on you whereas the poster you quoted has already got that information and has sent in a claim.0 -
Sorry, think I have misunderstood Step 2 of Martin's 'Recliam your bank charges' guide. He says that the bank has a maximum of 40 days to reply???I don't have a signature yet....0

Yes that is Step 2 in the article which is sending off for your statements etc.
Then Step 3 goes on to letters 1 and 2. rut456 has moved on to Step 3.0 -

Claim: £1066
Paid: £488.50
I just got a letter from these today (6th) saying that they still stand by there letter dated 4th November. They did reiterate that it is my responsibility to keep my account in order (again)etc etc.
This is the important part or the letter that i think will give people dealing with this bank a little faith as i believe it is one of the harder banks to do this with:
However, the Bank would like to resolve this matter with you without the dissproportionate expense of a court action. I therefore enclose a cheque in the sum of £488.50. This cheque is tendered without admission of liability and is in full and final settlement of your claim and your encashment of it will be taken as your acceptance of this.
They did also say that they would have a counter claim, but thats got to be rubbish because they just sent me a cheque??0
