i have recieved my statements this morning, and i have worked out the charges, £6006.50,(this does not include any intrerest charges yet) however I have been given over the six year period £355, back from A&L after complaining (bless em!), do I deduct this from the total, that would leave the charges at £5785.50, now i am confused because the total is over £5000, I am going to write to them (step 2) but do I need to write two seperate letters, or just go in for the full ammount, and split it into two for the MCOL stage?
Any help is appreciated Ta xx
You must deduct what has already been paid to you.
You can put one claim for the total charges in when you write to the bank, and split into two claims if you need to issue a court claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

However, have got a charge coming out of account on 16th of this month and don't know whether I can include a charge that is yet to come out in my list. Can I do this?
Thanks for any help.
Send your first letter off. The 14 days limit you give them will take you past the 16th. Add the next charge on your second letter to the bank (when you tell them you will go to court if they wont settle). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Bank: BARCLAYCARD
Amount Reclaimed: £20.00
Amount they paid: £20.00
The story: One letter sent, waited 3 weeks and received the money.
I'm now in the process of getting my charges back from Nationwide.0 -
Bank: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: £389.00
Amount Paid: £389.00
Wrote a letter after reading how to claim back my charges. They told me to write how much i'm claiming, the dates and reason for the charge. Which i done in a nice little table! They offered me £90.00 short of what i was reclaiming and i said No it's my money i want it all back and i did get it all back. It took about 5 months all together. I.m now using the same process to claim back charges from Abbey but i'm not sure it's going to be as easy.
If I can do it so can you. Good Luck.0 -
has anyone reclaimed charges from Abbey been in the process for a while about to go to a small claims court. they are not having any of it. I have been succesful with HSBC though, I suppose you can't win them all.0

Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £3649
Amount they paid:£3649
The story: My brother heard Martin discussing bank charges on the Jeremy Vine show so we got online and followed the steps exactly. It worked perfectly, no questions asked. The bank paid up within 2 weeks of the claim letter being sent.0 -
Hi,
I sent of my letter with a list of bank charges at the start of December, obviously saying they had 14 days to respong (RBS).
I haven't heard anything back but I stupidly didn't send the letter recorded delivery... (I know I probably should have done something at the 14 days but was distracted by Xmas). I thought I would send the letter again, recorded delivery with a cover letter saying basically that I had sent the letter before but will give them the benefit of the doubt that they did not recieve it but that this time I expect to hear back in 14 days, and that the interest I am claiming has gone up accordingly. Do you think this seems reasonable?
Thanks!0 -

Abbey are tough to crack....I have just sent my AQ back to the courts...I am using a draft order approach though to try and speed things up a bit!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
