"Carphone Warehouse held its annual store managers’ conference on Tuesday this week, with the senior management team presenting at a venue in Wembley Stadium in north-west London.

Retail MD Steve Blan and trading director George Dymond outlined the key Christmas products with Nokia’s Comes With Music taking top billing as well as a string of new laptops.

Chairman and CEO Charles Dunstone told the managers about the bleak economic climate and tough trading conditions affecting all retailers, but attempted to lift morale by saying that Carphone was better placed than others because of its product range.

He also gave an insight into new co-owner Best Buy, which will start taking a bigger influence in the company. There was also a video presentation from a former Carphone UK store manager who is running a Best Buy Mobile store in America.

Managers saw a range of 24 laptops to be unveiled at the new concept store in the as-yet-unopened Westfield shopping centre in White City. Stores currently stock just five laptops"

Yeah but what customers - if E2save keep going the way they are they will drive them all away!

Having just checked the hearing notice I note that it states that 'Each party shall deliver to every other party and to the court offices copies of all documents (including any experts' report) on which he intends to rely at the hearing no later than 02 October 2008.'............I am worried that I have not provided any evidence to the court in relation to the conflicting information provided by e2save over the dates and now obviously since e2save provided their response after the date I have no time to submit it.

As long as you have sent them (and the court) copies of the documents you are going to rely on (presumably the ts + cs if you are claiming they have breached them), you do not need to answer their witness statement now provided. If it gets to a hearing, then you can discuss it in court at the time.

I am about to send my documents to court for non payment of the automatic cash back. Since I started the case E2S have sent this payment and a cheque for my MCOL costs, which I have not cashed. ..........

My question is what papers to submit to the court and E2S. I will definitely send a print out of the T & C’s at the point of sale. However I am not sure whether to send a printout from mycashbackclaim web site, which shows my first cash back due in month 4 (which is an extra payment over and above the original contract), and the sheet, your offer explained, which shows my first cashback due with bill number 6. Both of these show the attempts to mislead but could be regarded as irrelevant as my claim is about the automatic cashback, and to date E2S have obviously not been late with my submitted claim.

Any guidance about which papers any one else has submitted would be very useful.

You say you took out your claim against them for the non payment of your automatic cashback, and they subsequently paid it together with the court costs you incurred, but you haven't cashed their cheque.

Why not? Isn't the case now settled?

Continuing will just upset the court who will see you as wasting their time. From what you say, taking action as you did has got you the result you wanted, and not cashing the cheque just means they have had the money all this time when it could have been in your account.

Although you can show how they mislead customers, that isn't a matter for the county court - if you want to, take it up with your trading standards depaartment, but don't hold your breath for too much action from them!

    Customer services

I was wondering.....................since Customer Services departments of the various guises of CPW are monitoring this forum and responding, given the HUGE number of posts against your trading practices, the number of correspondents who have dragged money out of you successfully just at the last minute before court hearing ( no one seems to have failed), given that this usually means you have to pay ALL the stage payments at that point for fundamental breach of contract, is any current CS rep or ex-CS rep prepared to explain to contributors exactly what the internal policies and procedures are within the CashBack departments.
    • Are you on a bonus scheme based upon a % of legitimate cashbacks you fail to pay?
    • Do you start off as honet, wide-eyed members of staff who somehow are brainwashed into trying to swindle cashback customers out of their legitimate cashbacks?
    • Is there an elite core of one or two managers that simply refuse to honour cashbacks?
    • What internal memos or training courses are there on how to avoid repaying legitimate claims?
    • Is there simply a hardcore of agents who refuse to pay as well as a number of honest, decent staff who try to do the right thing?
    • Do you get fired if you are one of the latter?
It certainly appears that, by association, working for the cashback team at CPW places you right at the bottom below Estate Agents, Bankers and Charity Muggers, at least on this Forum.

Well - any of you brave enough to reply? You have a huge audience!

Best not to feed the troll.

They break site rules every time they post, and haven't had the courtesy to get authorisation to post here. (Despite being advised to do so many times)
  • I suspect it's a robot - always seems to be the same bland invitation to email them rather than actually addressing any of the questions on here. Excellent post by Guys Dad - sums up their true approach fantastically and accurately I suspect!!

As for breaking the site rules - since they ignore their own and have done for 18 months, it's natural for them to ignore everyone elses'!
