I finished Cockroaches yesterday - brilliant! - and started The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty - my first book by her and have read over half already so don't think it will be around for much longer. A very enjoyable light read.

The Husband's Secret is really good, you should also try Little Lies by the same author.

I've just finished Theatres of War by RJJ Hall which is really good and now reading A Risk worth taking by Robin Pilcher which I picked up as a fan of his mother.

Morning all I'm still here, I just haven't finished my book yet, well I finished one I was reading at school but that doesn't really count as it wasn't mine so it's not going anywhere
Loving I'm still with you and am taking comfort from it- depends on what you believe so I won't push it as I'm not sure of others beliefs so don't want to offend or upset anyone. But if you are interested in what the author believes happens after here it's worth a read. It's based on her experiences as a medium. Will he fully get it finished this week and aim for some fiction next to clear something

Thanks, I'm very close to finishing it and looking forward to doing so this evening. I will definitely be looking out for more of hers, or at least adding to my "to acquire" list for now - trying so hard to be good this year and would really like to get through all of the TBR on our bookshelves and make decent inroads into my many Kindle freebies/cheapies - at my current pace, this is ambitious but do-able I think. However... it's my birthday soon and my wishlist contains several books!

  • Hello all,

Not been on much this year so far, however I have read the following:

Mary Berry's Autobiography Recipe for Life - Wonderful, her character really shines through
Marian Keyes - Woman Who Stole My Life - My fav author and this is another gem in her pack.

Currently reading David Mitchell's The Bone Clocks. Not read any of his before and I'm finding it slow going.

Have ended up buying four children's books for work. Kept putting off buying them but now I am cross with myself because I need them quick and have had to pay full price for them!!! £6.99 for a picture book. And I can't claim the money back. Looked at getting them on Amazon but by the time I added next day delivery it wasn't much cheaper (and I would have to pay for petrol to get take the other books back) errrh!
Must be having my worst money saving week ever - got a speeding ticket yesterday - dual carriage way was 30 mph - I thought it was 50mph- £100 fine. Roof repaired today £320 ( my half of the bill).
Sorry to go off topic - need to get it off my chest.

    Argh Gem-Gem, how annoying!

I finished The Husband's Secret, a great read and I would very much recommend - itching to search out more of her books but I will resist!

I've started Michael Connelly's The Black Ice - we have a set of ten of his books, of which I've only read the first (and several years ago - even though I enjoyed it!) and am now determined to get through them all. The plan is to alternate reading these with others so that I don'tnget bored of same-ness.

    Happy reading all!

I have a confession. Yesterday i went into the charity shop looking for my one book - the silkworm by Robert Galbraith aka J.K Rowling. instead, someone has had a post christmas clear out and i found 3 Game of Thrones books, and 2 Hunger Games books as well as Harry Potter books.
I collect Harry Potter books - i have a few 1st editions now, and any purchases of these are not included in my no buying books as i want a few collections to pass on in the future of full complete sets. I didn't buy any yesterday as didnt have time to check them out properly
Game of Thrones is on my list of *need* to read books, and cheapest ive found them is £35 for all the current ones. As im trying to buy less and spend less, i havent been able to buy new, so i had resigned myself to hopingto spy them in charity shops. The 3 yesterday where £2 a book and looked like they where the 1st 3 in the series.. got them home and found out i have book 1 and book 3 and 4 or 4 and 5. bit annoyed at that, but hopefully i will find the missing one or two before i finish the first one.
The hunger games is also a series ive been wanting to read for a while now, but i didnt buy these ones as it was catching fire and mockingjay that was available. If i find the first in the series i may go back and get them. but i am not going out my way to hunt them down either. I'm unsure if i actually wantto get them, as i like the films, the genre seems to be a hit or a miss when in book form (loved Gemma Malleys The Declaration/Resistance/Legacy)

Now that i have the excuss out the way, this weekend i am going to donate 6 books as the aim is to reduce the books in the house, so if i am buying any i need to get rid of 2 for each one in the house until i have my own library that i will re-read again.

I am proud of myself though, as i have always been a buy books new type of person and over the past year i have saved a fortune from buying from charity shops instead.

Just finished The Vintage Teacup Club.......

I rated it :T:T:T out 5, it was a pleasant read..... Not sure if I would read more by the same author ....

A library book, so doesn't decrease my bookshelves but no 3 in my Goodreads challenge
