Yes I've read The Bat (and very much enjoyed it) - in fact, I've read all of the Jo Nesbo books other than The Son (still in HB) and Police (which I also received for Christmas and will probably read next) - LOVE his books!
I read the books out of order as they weren't translated in order - The Bat was his first and only came out a year or so ago I think, and The Redbreast was another late one (despite being #3 in the series - Cockroaches is #2). The first I read was The Snowman as that was the first widely available one, and I've been hooked ever since!
I would, however, probably recommend reading them in order since you have the choice of doing so now - I think the context might help. Be warned though, some of the earlier ones (Redbreast esp) aren't quite so well written/gripping as the later ones - don't write him off on that basis!
Enjoy - rather jealous of you having the full series to look forward to
I've read about half of Cockroaches over the past few days, I'm constantly looking forward to my commute at the moment, and hoping for some quiet time this weekend to finish it!
I find the bat a little slow if im honest. From going from Stuart MacBride to Jo Nesbo, its a little dull if you ask me. Maybe I've started too high at the top and its all going to go downhill from here :rotfl:
I am going to read lots today and try to get into the book. I've been busy at work so haven't really had the time recently to properly get into it.
I have all the Jo Nesbo books other than the newest one "Police". I will pick it up off eBay nearer the time for only a few ££. Im popping along to charity shop later today and handing them 6 books. They were my first crime fiction books which I rather enjoyed, but I just have no space for them anymore. It was the Kenzie and Gennaro books by Dennis Lehane. So hopefully they find a good home.
I will read them in order and hopefully I won't notice if the first few aren't as good. You've made me want to read the newest ones now if they are better, but im a bit OCD about order of books etc.
Off to Waterstones later today to pick up the new Stuart MacBride book in HB. Been meaning to pick it up for over a week but I've just been too busy. Its all paid for from my xmas voucher so no extra spends for me.
Also downloaded a few short stories from the Itunes Store with my xmas gift card. I just cant get away from Stuart MacBride at the moment. Think im in love
I have been using the goodread's app on my ipad and iphone and its great. I've set myself a challenge of 30 books this year which I think is realistic.
Anyway, happy reading.

Finished David Mitchell's The Bone Clocks. I think not having read any of his previous books meant that I didn't understand his style of writing very well, which mean that the book moved very slowly for me. There was a lot of detail, but the story didn't really become apparent until there was a third of the book left!
Not sure I'll be picking up any of his anytime soon...
I'm now reading a Kindle Book: Allan Quatermain from H. R Haggard, a follow up to King Solomon's Mines. It's a free one I've had on there a while. Let's hope it reads quicker than the last one!0 -

I've also just finished The Bone Clocks and loved it but then I have loved all his previous books. He likes to tell simultaneous stories in parts and jump around a bit. In The Bone Clocks though, he mentionned characters from his previous books: Jason, the counsin in Black Swan Green that threw up when he tried smoking for the first time, and when Marinus was the doctor in the far east was from The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet. I can see why some people may find his style rather strange but I would perservere. Ghostwritten is probably my fave of his other books.
Over the weekend have finished The Life and times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson (loved it, as I love all his books), 1.4 by...someone I can't remember (meh, only read it as it was a sequel to a book I read a few years ago that was mildly interesting) and now I'm on to Ayoade on Ayoade which is Richard Ayoade's "sutobiography". It's rather strange but I can appreciate the way it's written based on some of his previous TV work.
Another Jo Nesbo fan here, even met him a couple of times and he's the nicest man ever. Have just ordered The Son as it's reduced on Amazon in paperback finally and it's my choice next for book club. Have seen he's got another stand alone novel coming out in April, I wonder if we've seen the last of Harry Hole?Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

I'm taking it slow with this book as i wanted it to take on holiday with me and i dont want to pack any other books , but its an easy read. i was expecting something similar to lord of the rings style which i did not like but persivered with (and yet loved the films)Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Good Sunday morning, all.
I'm a third through Jack Higgins Midnight Runner. I must say it's not my favourite genre - military, Near East, spies and governments...I'll finish it as it's an easy read and then it will be gone. Don't think I'll get any of his other books though.
A friend gave me a bag with 2 Jo Nesbos, 1 Harlan Coban and another book and I'd had them all before, so they will leave the house straight away!First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

Yes Thank you Mrs Money Penny, husband was 'slimmer of the week ' last week - so he won two shopping bags of food - which was very nice. We also managed to bag 6 lots of chicken reduced half price plus an extra20% off on top.
Haven't bought anymore children's books at full price ( in fact I gave two carrier bags of children's books away to a local special school). Felt very good to know that lots of children will get lots of pleasure from them.
If anyone has is getting rid of children's books I know that schools are alway very grateful to receive them.
Roof is all fixed, no more water coming in.
I'm still reading 'The Sins of the Father' when I get time - really enjoying it.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I finished Stardust over the weekend. Thought it was brilliant. It was very different to the film, which is one of my favourites but I thought the book was equally as good.
I then read Esio Trot as I going to try and read all the Roald Dahl books I have this year - its been a v.long time since I've read them.
I have now started The Dead Fathers Club by Matt Haig. I have really enjoyed a couple of his books before but I'm finding this one hard to get into. Its told 1st person as a stream of consciousness so there's no punctuation other than full stops. I will persist and hope I get into the writing style. No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

Hello, I am going to join you for this as I have realized I have got to 'that point'. I can barely move in my office for piles of stuff, including books.
I will try to read and not hold on to books for sentimental value, or because OH might read them. I'm lucky in that I do get a lot of books for free, but I can do something more useful with them than just hold on to them.
I will try to look after the books too, as they need to look appealing enough to be shifted on. I will be getting shot of a few at an Easter raffle I will be running for a group I'm in.
Books read so far this year:
Too Much Information, by Dave Gorman (Christmas present)
The City's Son, by Tom Pollock (£1.25 ordered in from library) - this is awesome.
Reading now: The Glass Republic by Tom Pollock. So far, it's even better than book 1. :TKeep reading books!

mrs-moneypenny - enjoy the Jane Green, not read any of hers for a while but find them very amusing.
I finished The Black Ice - Michael Connelly over the weekend - it was decent enough but didn't wow me. I have, however, started his next one, The Concrete Blonde. Hoping to get into the series since I have another 7 to go after this!MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0
