  • I finished A Christmas Carol over Christmas. I enjoyed it but watching A Muppets Christmas Carol half way through reading it was probably a mistake because all I could imagine was Kermit and Miss Piggy!!
Started Cheating at Solitaire by Ally Carter. I love her other books so thought I'd give it a go - its been on my shelf for years. A new year is coming so its time to refresh my effort to clear tbr piles and stop buying new books!

  • I am currently reading The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, another pressie.:j
    .

One of my all time fave books, I adore reading it, I thought I'd hate the film but I literally could not speak when it ended and just sat there with tears rolling down my face.

I got three books for Christmas two historical fiction, and the time keeper by Mitch albom who's books I love. So I started that yesterday
And am already over halfway through.

    Happy adding everyone

I started the year with 23 unread books on my Kindle.

The good news is that I read 49 books this year.

The not so good news is that I have 40 unread books on my Kindle at the end of the year!

My downfall is the Kindle Daily deals , for 99p. Often they are books that I genuinely want to read, and I feel that I need to snap them up, to avoid paying full price at some later date.

I don't think I'm ever going to stop buying the daily deals if I see something I like the look of, but, I will try to cut it down a bit, and see if I can end 2015 with less books outstanding than at the start!

Finished 'Whispering in the wind' by Elizabeth Elgin. Parts were a little predictable in places but overall a good ending and an enjoyable read.
5 stars (Will have trouble letting this one go!)

Started a totally different style of book "The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time" is a murder mystery novel. The detective and narrator has Asperger's Syndrome - it is making me smile because I was a teacher for fifteen years and it is making me think back to the children that I taught with Asperger's.

  • Phew! It's been a busy time, I finish the Subtle Knife and also Amber Spyglass, which seemed to take forever! The series was good overall though.

I also managed to fit in The Time Machine from my Classic Adventures series. Though that was only 102 pages long!

    For Christmas I was given:
A recipe for life - Mary Berry - her autobiography, so that's my first one of the year on Thursday.
The Woman Who Stole My Life - Marian Keyes - A favourite author of mine.
The Bone Clocks - David Mitchell - Not read any of his before so that will be interesting.

Also given, but not for 'reading' as such:
    Bake off Christmas
    Bake off Winter Kitchen. :o

Have been through all the books and the new To Read list is now 71 books long! I managed 52 books this year, so I'll set the same challenge next year on Goodreads.

I have deliberately left off my husbands books, as he has over 500 himself! When I catch up with mine, I can start adding some of his that I would like to read.

Curious incident is a fab book and I would really reccomend seeing it on stage it was really well adapted.

Just finished Christmas at Claridges by Karen Swann. I did enjoy it, although the slightly perturbed that Claridges didn't feature until the last chapter! It's a good chick fic and I would read more of her.

Picked up Count of Monte cristo

Sadly I don't think I'm going to make my Goodreads challenge this year .....3 to go

  • I didn't quite make my 2014 target but I did end up reading 25.5 books (don't think I'm going to finish the one I'm reading by tomorrow night) so not bad. I will aim for 30 again next year and try not to have any periods of non reading time like this year where I just stop half way through a book and take 2 weeks to pick it up again! :o

Need to try extra hard this year to read the books on my shelf and clear some space - there is a box of unread books under the bed which I will try and read this year.

I got a few books for Christmas. The Sherlock Chronicles, a graphic novel, War Dog by Damien Lewis and Walk Me Home by Catherine Ryan Hyde. So only 4 to add to the tbr pile.
No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.
    Target for 2018 = 7/21
No more buying DVDs ? 2018 target 27/52
