I've started Rebecca Wells "The divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya sisterhood" and so far I am enjoying it. This one was kicking round on my bookshelf since 2004....
Enjoy Christmas, everyone - I hope we'll all find time to read, lolFirst they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Hello everyone!
I'm now on my Christmas break, so I get to do a bit of reading - hurrah!
This means that I've now finished My Story by Bruno Tonoli.
It's his autobiography. I found it in a pound shop a few weeks ago and could not say no for that kind of money. It was pretty interesting. I'm unlikely to read it cover-to-cover again, but it was fun.
Take care and have a wonderful Christmas everyone!xxx

Finished when I fall in love - Miranda Dickinson - very good, although the prevalent theme of loss did leave me with a ball of sadness remember those I have lost..... At this time of year
Now on The Cornish Coast Murder - John Bude - no 47 in my Goodreads challengeAs a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

Last night I finished Wild, by Cheryl Strayed, about a woman who walks 1000 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in the US alone. It was an interesting book, a bit monotanous in places, but thought provoking too.
Just started A Christmas Carol by Dickens for my xmas festNow Mrs FrugalinShropshire:T Proud to be mortgage and debt free:j0 -

I'm almost done with both books of "Notes and Queries" which I found thoroughly enjoyable. The way people replied to the questions was so much more civilised and funny than the internet can do, lol. I have to ask OH if The Guardian still publishes that column today (I don't have the time to regularly read the paper).
I will now move back to Russel Kane's The Humorist. So far I am finding it very dark and it has not made me laugh yet.
I remember these books from years ago. Thought they were great.
I find the "No Such Thing as a Fish" podcasts satisfies the same itch for me now.

Thanks so much, I love podcasts! I'm currently catching up with Serial but will get onto the "Fish" soon!First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
I was given 4 new books for Christmas, two Persephone books, Mariana by Monica Dickens and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, one of my fave books. My beloved was very MSE and bought used copies of both.
I have already finished Mariana and it has become one of my favourites ranking along side Nancy Mitford and Elizabeth Jane Howard.
I am currently reading The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, another pressie.:jNow Mrs FrugalinShropshire:T Proud to be mortgage and debt free:j0 -

I loved this book - and the movie, which is rare for me
Nobody gave me books :T so I can keep working on the shelves and piles. I am enjoying "the Divine secrets of the ya-yas) but it is very small print and tires my eyes. Might need new glasses! So I'm reading a few pages of "Dressed to kill" by Eddie Izzard (autobiographical) in between.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
I'll have to have another count up and see how many books I have on my shelf. I've just moved house and got rid of some books. I also won't have books on my mum's shelf to count. I'm working my way through a number of different lists of award winners And having a go at the BBC Big Read so there are many books to read, but I've got a lifetime to read them...first I need to read the ones on my shelf!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3
