I'm gonna have to join too, I am a bad mum, naughty me giving up breast feeding because it bloody well hurt and not just a little bit, then giving up a second time with ds because although it didnt hurt at all I knew we would both get some sleep if he actually got some milk rather than him sucking my empty boobs all night.

Then I only went and let DD sleep on her front from about 8 weeks, she slept better that way.

Moving forward I use the pacifer (TV) whenever I can so I can have a rest.

I love it now DD is at school all day and DS at preschool in the morning and I get some peace and I cant wait till sept when they will both be at full time school. Doesnt mean I dont love them I just love having time away from them lol.

I was also late picking DD up from preschool once because I was getting my hair done opps.

My MIL never sterilised bottles, she didn't know what I was doing when she saw me sterilising my bottles. Also my mother told me she left me outside a shop[in the old days mothers used to leave their babies outside shops in their prams] My Mum forgot about me until she'd been home for 10 minutes.

my aunt did this but didn't realise until someone popped round and asked where the baby was! eek:

My Mother in Law had 5 children, (twin boys on the last pregnancy). She says she used to put them into the pram, wrapped up, and shove them outside for a few hours (fresh air) and never attended them if they cried.

Bonus.. you can't hear them.. fine until a nosey neighbour knocks on the door to tell you your baby is crying.. Snarling through gritted teeth.. I know.. that's why she is effing well out there!!

"When he was very tiny, sometimes I used to let him fall asleep on me when he didn't need to because I loved the feeling. I could have put him in his cot - he slept really well, but I just loved holding him"

We did this with DS1 because it felt so lovely.
Then we realised he only liked to sleep whilst being held and had 3 years of sleepless nights.

So poor DS2 spent the majority of his baby years in his moses basket/bouncy chair/pram starved of cuddles!! But you know, even at 6yrs old he is very cuddly and loves his hugs now.

I also had alarms and reminders in my phone after I once forgot to pick DS1 up from nursery. The school had to ring me to ask who was collecting him and my mum was horrified that anyone could forget their own child. :o
In my defence, I was working and used to nip out to collect him and drop him off at my mums, it's not like I was watching This Morning, drinking brews and eating chocolate digestives!! :rotfl:

XH once left 5 children at school.. he was meant to pick them up from kids club and forgot.. another time he got halfway home with 4 when one of them asked where 5th was.. erm.. still at nursery.. oops!

One of mine ate another ones poop out of the potty because I couldn't be bothered to empty it promptly

they played 'feng shui' in the cat litter tray

they regularly had baked beans or tinned spaghetti for lunch.. food innit?!

if my children were bad i'd get the camera out and tell them they were going on ebay!

My children have to tidy a room together before they can have dinner.. well it is their mess!!!

I must admit if Henry goes to sleep in car we sometimes leave him in there with the car parked in front of the house because if you go to pick him up he wakes up and wont settle again

My MIL once forgot to pick DS1 up from school, although to be fair it was more of a misunderstanding.
I went absolutely ballistic, after all, I'm allowed to forget my own child but she should know when its her turn to pick him up!:p

I shout quite a lot. Usually in the mornings when we are running late for school and the boys are meant to have their coats and shoes on, bags in hand, instead of not knowing where their coats or shoes are and being distracted by the tv. I used to think this only happened in our house because all the other mums and kids seemed happy, relaxed and on time.
I now know we are all the same, just some of us calm down quicker than others!!:rotfl:

I realise from this thread that I seem to have learnt quite a lot - all the mistakes made with DS1 weren't repeated with DS2!

I'm still looking for any stalkers out there who might know where I put the supports for the moses basket btw LOL
I'm SURE they're somewhere safe and sensible... it's just that I can't remember where...

(if I find out hubby has moved them or thrown them out I'll kill him!)

I must admit I have done most of the above at one time or another so I must be a bad mummy too!
At christmas we went away for a few days and in that time the kids ds aged 3 and dd aged 6 had eight happy meals between them  yes, happy meals for breakfast too.
In disneyland last year I persuaded dd to go on a rollercoaster with me by telling her it was a slow train ( you couldnt see the rollercoaster from the queue) She still hasnt forgiven me and I have the framed photo of her clinging onto me for dear life :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I forgot to leave a coin under the pillow and take the tooth away for four nights in a row, the tooth fairy does not work sundays, mondays, tuesdays or wednesdays...and as of December when the 2nd tooth came out she apparently doesnt work on Fridays either :D

DD tells everyone I make the best choccolate chip cookies in the world ( tesco value);)

I laugh when dd says words like sausages and sandwiches ( she has a lisp and to make matters worse she also has no front teeth) In fact, I sometimes get her to say them just for entertainment :D

I also managed to convince ds that they were no choccolates left from christmas because he'd eaten them all and forgotten about it, they also think the ice cream vans music means they've sold out !

I got loads more of these, could go on for days though so better stop now

I was very guilty of this, now not so bad, because DS1 at the age of 6/7 wrote in his home work, "my mum gets quite stressed in the mornings!!" I didn't go to parents night that term:o
I now have alarms set on my mobile which lies on the coffee table every morning: 8.30 teeth brushed, 8.40 Shoes and jackets on 8.45 Out the door, my kids have it down to a tee and know which tune is for each "job" (there's actually 7:o), so now all I have to remember is to charge my phone!!! (and where I left my keys!)

PMSL at this thread, very funny!

:rotfl:First time we went away with my oldest he was only 3 months old and we went self catering to spain.
We got there only to find that there was no cot and rather than kick up a fuss i made him a bed out of our suitcase and a beach towel.

Jackie - you know most phones let you record your own "tune" for things? :) You could record yourself saying "BRUSH YOUR TEETH NOW OR ELSE!" etc if you wanted :)
