"When he was very tiny, sometimes I used to let him fall asleep on me when he didn't need to because I loved the feeling. I could have put him in his cot - he slept really well, but I just loved holding him"
We did this with DS1 because it felt so lovely.
Then we realised he only liked to sleep whilst being held and had 3 years of sleepless nights.
So poor DS2 spent the majority of his baby years in his moses basket/bouncy chair/pram starved of cuddles!! But you know, even at 6yrs old he is very cuddly and loves his hugs now.
I also had alarms and reminders in my phone after I once forgot to pick DS1 up from nursery. The school had to ring me to ask who was collecting him and my mum was horrified that anyone could forget their own child.
In my defence, I was working and used to nip out to collect him and drop him off at my mums, it's not like I was watching This Morning, drinking brews and eating chocolate digestives!! :rotfl:0 -
I have heard this sort of thing from quite a few older Mums. It was quite normal to leave them outside in their prams all day long, preferably at the bottom of the garden where you couldn't hear them cry.
did anyone watch a programme a long time ago, they had 3 methods of bringing up children,
one where they did the above and leave them cry etc etc
one where they did the all natural method and have baby strapped to you all day long and another one where it was a mix of the two,
it was alot my in depth than my description but the one where they left them outside actually came out topsCan you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
When getting kids medicine and asked if i want non-drowsy I always turn it down in favour of drowsy stuff.
They're ill, I want sleep, they want sleep, give me the good stuff!.
I let dd and ds put their own sugar on their porridge when we make it (sometimes up to 3 teaspoons)
Ds drank a can of redbull when i was on the phone shouting at SKY, he was hyper....and was his day with his daddy. hehe0 -

Oh and another one..............
being a fulltime working single mum I'm THE most disorganised person in the world and for my shame..........
I made my 8yo daughter hold her wet socks out of the car window to dry (summertime!) on the way to school. I even went a bit faster than normal to try and dry them even more!!
Shameful
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I would have told her to wear the socks she had on the day before:eek:
That's even more shameful.0 -

I loved lying Jack on my chest to sleep - would sit like it in the night when he was up. Took me ages to get him to go to sleep on his but probably explains why he will only sleep on his front!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

What you should do is sit on the settee with a cup of tea while they do it all. :rotfl:0 -
OK anyone spy on me about 4 months ago when I dismantled the moses basket for storage and hid the supports for the coverthing? I could really do with remembering where I hid them... it'll be somewhere safe...
*sigh*
I want to list the damned thing on ebay but it looks a bit pathetic without the supports for the cover.... a bit... limp...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

DD only slept on DH when she was very unsettled - never on me (probably smelt too much of milk - didn't bother me either which is bad... I was delighted at husbands dumb grin that she was sleeping on him... the big dope
