My Mother in Law had 5 children, (twin boys on the last pregnancy). She says she used to put them into the pram, wrapped up, and shove them outside for a few hours (fresh air) and never attended them if they cried.0

My 6 year old makes her own breakfast most mornings. And gets herself dressed. With cartoons on. I sit looking shellshocked that I'm up with a cup of tea for half an hour.
We never go swimming and very rarely get craft stuff out because I cannot be bothered- she has pens and notepads to colour with!
Never even tried to BF-didn't like idea with it. She was in disposables with wipes, and the wipes still come out now in a morning to wipe her face with!
I have made her cry numerous times because I have her convinced that kids have to get there own houses on their 16th birthdays- she thinks shes living with me forever!
Oh, and I often threaten her with going to live with her dad when shes naughty, and have resorted to smacking occasionally.
She sits and watches Bones, Buffy and Angel on the TV with me, and has had nightmares about some of the things from the shows- but she still likes them so she can watch!0 -
I slept through mine this morning
Good job I had nowhere to go!
going to devour a £1 Cadbury's Easter Egg now - going to be good & not give Jack any though. It's mine, all mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The first time I rang NHS direct LB had splashed essential lavender oil on his face and possibly in his eyes - I was sat in the bathroom, rinsing his face, panicking enough for three. When they rang back they asked if he was having problems breathing or was he blue around the lips. No, he was giggling and splashing in the water.
I also had to ring them when LB had spread sudocream all over himself, his clothes and his room. And when he had a go at the Metanium as well. At least I gave them a giggle. They pointed out things that go on one end of a baby are unlikely to be toxic on the other.
I used to leave him in a vest for the first few summers. The vests were changed regularly but it seemed silly to put extra clothes on him.
He was weaned quite late because I loved the cuddle when I fed him a bottle and he seemed fine about it all.
When he was very tiny, sometimes I used to let him fall asleep on me when he didn't need to because I loved the feeling. I could have put him in his cot - he slept really well, but I just loved holding him.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Hmmm can I join, a while since mine where babes but I do have some terrible things to add!
Yes I drank when I was preggas, ate peanut butter, runny eggs and liver:eek:
I have ds1 age 13, dd age 11, ds2 age 9
I bf all my babies because I couldn't be doing with the hastle of bottles and it meant I didnt have to get out of bed -yes all my babies slept in my bed at some time or another! Plus I didnt want to share the feeding;)Their cots all had bumpers and quilts , not sure what the problem is with bumpers ...maybe thats why I should be in the club:D
ds went into his own room at 3 wks and had a dummy -he was still wearing disposable nappies for bed when he was almost 4. Started weening at 12 weeks on packet food...and he lived in baby grows:)
dd was a very whiney baby and the only way we could get her to sleep was in a door bouncer....and we would leave her dangling till she woke up, didnt want to disturb! started weening at 12 weeks .
ds2 had a dummy and was also weened at 14 weeks. His first words where not mummy or daddy but "OH Sake!" I think I was quite stressed when he was born having 2 babies to look after:o
I bathed them all in the washing up bowl and let them watch teletubbies.
Ooh and I don't ,won't,(can't afford )and refuse to buy their shoes from Clarkes!
I am sure there are lots of other things I do now, but I will have to have a think....obviously being a bad mum means I dont know that its wrong xJAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

Oh and another one..............
being a fulltime working single mum I'm THE most disorganised person in the world and for my shame..........
I made my 8yo daughter hold her wet socks out of the car window to dry (summertime!) on the way to school. I even went a bit faster than normal to try and dry them even more!!
Shameful0 -

I have heard this sort of thing from quite a few older Mums. It was quite normal to leave them outside in their prams all day long, preferably at the bottom of the garden where you couldn't hear them cry.
I used to leave mine outside the(closed) back door ....wrapped up of course with the rain cover on if it was raining!.
Not as bad as my mother who left my brother outside the butchers and went home:eek:JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200
