With DS1 I didnt wash any of his new clothes before he wore them.
In the hospital when the midwife undressed him for his first bath he had a little round sticker stuck to his skin....
I also hadnt thought to change his nappy at all either and it was huge and full of that black poo...... Fortunately for me, the midwife cleaned it all up!
I once put DS in his car seat, securely fastened him in with the 5 point harness then 5 minutes from home realised I hadnt fastened the baby seat to the car with the seat belt.0 -
DD wore nappies until aged 3 1/2, and kind of toilet trained herself.
I didn't listen at all to the HV, and I didn't take my children for any child development assessments. (I used to pretend I was out if I saw her walking up the drive)
DD2 is still on and off in nappies now she will be 4 in august.
I actually made a complaint to PALS about my HV because she kept coming round all the time leaving notes for me for no reason, whilst doing that i made it clear to them to report back to the HV's that i was quite happy for the new birth visit and for them to send me appointments for development checks which i will attend other than that i have no reason or need to see one if i do i know where to find them0 -

I did try, I expressed for my twins, they were tube fed for 2 weeks, but by the time they came home my milk supplied had dwindled so much that there was no way near enough to feed two, and I didn't have the inclination to let them go hungry whilst it built back up, that just seemed cruel.
I fed my DD for about 6 weeks until I was seriously anaemic and constipated from the iron tablets, I was so backed up I couldn't eat anything so my milk production was crap. After 2 days crying in pain from trying to pass the poo from hell whilst trying to nurse a contantly hungry baby I conceded defeat.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

She knows we get meat and produce from animals and horrified my Mam when the cow field was empty by matter of factly saying they must have gone to be made in to beef burgers, and shocked a man in the supermarket when I checked some eggs and one had a feather stuck on and she giggled and announced that it must have come off the hen's bum.
I also once hung a full sized deer off her swings frame in the garden to butcher it while she stood next to it.
My Mum is absolutely horrified by all this and thinks I am guilty of child cruelty,
I'd better stop now before I get reported or somethingFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

If you happen to have a spare leg from that deer or one of his kin you just let me know!
I have no problems with kids knowing where meat comes from. Unlike my meat eating neighbour who cringes when I look at a field full of lambs and lick my lips and mutter "rosemary... garlic... redwine sauce... mmmmmmm" I'm a disturbed human being... what can I say...
Oh and I was plucking ducks, geese and other wild fowl and skinning rabbits by the time I was 6 or 7... my dads uncle used to bring them back from hunting and my nans fingers were too arthritic...
I didn't mind plucking or gutting them... I used to mind when we'd missed a pellet and you chomped down on it! :eek:DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

when ds was a few days old, my sister in law called us to say that she had broken down a few mins from where we live (dd was already at nans house) do dh and i decided to go and see if we could help,
so we all got ready , put ds in his car seat etc etc ,
then when we got to where SIL was it turned out she started the car. she then asked where ds was, hubby replied in the back of the car,
hubby got back in the car looked in the back, looked at me with this face> and said where is DS?????
you can imagine the panic that went through us, i had visions of ds sat on the side of the road in his car seat. we screamed up the hill in the car.
it wasnt until we got to the top of the hill that i started swearing at dh as i had just remembered we dropped ds of at nannies on the way.
my god tell me about baby brain ....Can you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
I have a DD aged 8 and here is a "small" list of my bad mummy moments....
- She doesnt read her school book everynight, and I've even been known to write in her contact book to say she had read when she hasnt!! and she knows I do it
- I have never made her eat anything she doesnt want to, and yes she can still have a bit of chocolate after dinner
- I let her think she was lost in Bluewater shopping centre (I hid behind a pillar and could clearly see her all the time, it was quiet during the week) until she cried, so she knew what it felt like to be lost. She never ran off after that!! Think she was about 3 when I did that.
- I did the time out thing and locked her in the bathroom for 4 minutes and let her scream! and when she was still screaming after 4 minutes she got another 4 minutes!! Worked an absolute treat!
- She has only just gone into her own bedroom!! (I'm a single mum and liked having her in bed with me)
- I let her watch all the rubbish programmes like Keeping up with the Kardashians and Miami Ink!
- I use some pretty bad language when I'm in the car and just say "Dont say that in front of your father"
.......... shes my best mate ( and thats supposed to be a bad thing???)0 -

in that case i must be really bad as both mine went straight to FF *blush*
I also put the 2 oldest onto cows milk [full cream] at 6 months old. Youngest went to 9 months on formula but she wouldn't drink it so I gave her cows milk too.
Weaned them all at 3-4 months- all had a mixture of home cooked and jars.
All of them had dummies, till they were quite big [can't remember specific ages]
Had tea with sugar out of their bottles. Also juice [I used to dilute ordinary squash.] Also gave brown sugar dissolved in water as a cure for constipation.
Oldest one got drunk at the age of 2:eek: we were at a barbecue and he was creeping around drinking out of 'empty' cans. We did notice when he got a bit giggly.
I can remember accidentally snipping the top of my little girls finger with the nail clipper, also accidentally trapped DS2's fingers in the french doors.
All in all, it's a miracle my kids survived.0
