Oh my god I can't use my card for a couple of hours - man the pumps, get into the shelter, armageddon is upon us - were all doomed!
I wish it would happen more often so people can begin to realise that personal responsibility still has a role to play in the 21st century.0 -

Machines etc and in particular IT systems go down, get over it. I bet all the moaners on here have had their own pc crash, error or hang on a web page. Do you go and change your pc??
You have obviously had a good Sunday thankfully.
You have no right to judge the people on here that had problems today.
Why are we moaners?
we have stated a major problem that weve had today, the inconvienence of trying somehow to get our shopping, the humiliation at the check out etc.
Would you give your time up for free to a major bank?
well that's what wev'e done today, spent hours trying to find out if our cards had been cloned, or our money withdrawn, worry & stress.0 -
To spurs nut and pc gabriel.
You would have been happy to get to the check out and to have your card declined? What would you have done? Bet you would not have smiled and been all happy about it. What would have hapened if it was your grandmother or elderly relation that went to the shop to get some gas or electric on thier key. This did not happen to you so shut up.0 -

Scott. some of us do not have a choice. Due to job issues and money problems in the past i have a not too good credit rating so opening a current account is very hard so i have to stick with the bank i have been with for years.0

What is the definition of a British Bank?, I don't think theyre are any apart from the Government majority owned one thats up to its eyeballs in taxpayer debt as the others all have major international shareholders which doesn't make them British. Or if it does then Santander UK plc is British!.
Britain means nothing these days, Now Cadbury's has gone what major British business is left?. None, this country is worthless. It stands for nothing, what once was a country to be proud of is now infact one to be ashamed of and we are the ones to blame because we've sat back and watched it happen.0 -
Has anyone else been haing problems with their Abbey debit cards. I have two Abbey current accounts and the cards for both have been declined at shops and ATMs this weekend. In the queue at the ATM at Tesco's today there were 3 other people who's Abbey cards had been declined, including one distraught woman who had been unable to pay for her shopping.
The checkout assistant told me that they have had a lot of trouble today with Abbey cards. I tried phoning Abbey but cannot get through. Sounds like they are having big problems.
Time to change banks I think.
All banks have problems from time to time. Truth is that the Abbey/Santander is one big problem. If you read this forum they are slagged off on every page at least once. Time to go from a wannabe mickey mouse bank to a proper bank. The Zero which they proudy extol has a lot of truth in it.
Zero customer service
Zero in branch service
Zero customer confidence
