This seems to be happening again. I couldn't get any money out of the ATM machine on Saturday (nor the woman behind me) and now I can't get online either. I phoned Customer Services and they can't access anyone's accounts either. They said give it 3 hours and try again!

Don't know why people persist with Abbey. My former boss did some consultancy work on their payment systems and he said they were carp, he wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

    Guys,

There was a problem with the VISA network on Saturday. All banks were affected.

Not just Santander. Barclays and Lloyds customers were affected as well.

As you all are aware, the problem has been resolved now.
  • Just found this thread after doing a search on Santander debit cards. As a long time A & L customer we recently received our replacement Santander debit cards However using them has been hopeless with many rejected transactions. In the end rang them up to be told that in order to use them for chip and pin transactions or web use we first have to go to a Santander cash machine and log them them using our pins. Only then would they work. Not one indication of the need to do this was mentioned in any of the correspondances that accompanied the cards so how is the poor customer supposed to know. The call desk person I spoke to was quite indignant. It might well be time to change if this is a sign of things to come
  • My daughter has so far had about 6 debit cards and one electron card, none of which have worked in an ATM or in a chip n pin machine. Each time they send her 2 debit cards (not sure why 2?)
Also my mum in law has had 4 debit cards, none of which work. (again gets 2 cards a time). The fault is that the machines say the pin is incorrect.
I've yet to get any new cards so hoping they are working by then as mine runs out in January.

Previously I was with Alliance and Leicester, now with Santander I've got nothing but problems...

My major problem is using the card abroad, they blocked my card on Thursday without telling me - I contacted them and was told to visit the branch, which was pretty difficult being abroad.

Then told to send a fax, wait 48 hour and should work. It didn't work, then when contacted them on the weekend the Security Team wasn't in the office...pretty big problem.

I've got my 4 year old with me and since Saturday (now is Monday) we've been unable to afford to eat...I was told the security team will be back on Monday 5pm (UK time)...this is so terrible and I'll find out what the hell is going on....
