This happened to me yesterday and I was lucky to have some cash on me, but still not very nice when the cashier tells you your card has been decilned.
Like other posters have said how can you pay cash when the cashpoint is not working?0 -

.
A few others seem to be cooking about it as well.:D0 -
I keep £50 cash in the house for emergencies and have a back up current account with a couple of hundred quid in which has come in handy when my main card got swallowed/lost. Would never keep all my eggs in one basket- too much potential for computer glitches or human error. They are an EYESORES!!!!0

I DONT WANT TO BANK WITH ANY OTHER MONEY GRABBING BANK LIKE BARCLAYS!!! and,
I DO NOT HAVE ANY CREDIT CARDS, after ALL WE ARENT ALL DEBT RIDDEN LIKE YOU.
The arrogance to assume people who possess credit cards are all debt ridden shows your complete stupidity and no wonder you got caught out at the till. Maybe you will be better prepared for next time?brightsparks wrote: »AM FUMING AT THESE ARROGANCE FULL OF THEMSELVES MEMBERS HERE.... god ...

Have been there,in the early 90,s.However having said that when abbey ruined the N+P in 95/6,it was a point of
principle to me to leave abbey.
PS there is another thread on MSE wondering if Santander are going to charge for ATM transactions, might be worth opening a basic account somewhere else just in case.I have a deep burning indifference0 -
A lot of the stuff you write on this forum makes sense. That said I am a little unsure of the meaning of the above comment. Who do you bank with?
I have a basic account with Yorkshire BS which my wages go into,I also have a Nationwide flexaccount for holidays and if I need to pay anything by cheque.
Both organisations are based in England and to the best of my knowledge only employ people in the British isles.I have a deep burning indifference0 -

I think people need to shut up and get a grip, THIS HAPPENED TO US NOT YOU.
I WAS REALLY WOUND UP as it wasnt just a COUPLE OF HOURS, it was 10am til 4.30pm,
incase you dont go out, supermarkets my way shut at 4pm SUNDAY HOURS... which screwed many people up.
SO DONT even START by SAYING HOW PEOPLE SHOULD FEEL.
You will find a lot of supermarkets are open 24 hours. So from Monday at 8am right through to about 10pm on Saturday they are OPEN. I cant believe you had no other food to eat just because of what happened on Sunday.0 -

how can you do that if you have no access to money! also he was shopping on sunday and the bloody Goverment has ruled on trading on sundays because its some peoples day of religion, hence why it adsa is only open 10-4
also 24 hours @ adsa closes at 12 saturday night, open again at 9.00-4 o clock
brought to you by a ex adsa worker 1994-1997 before heading to the army:p"MSE Money saving challenges..8/12/13 3,500 saved so far :j" p.s if i been helpfully please leave me a thank you but seek official advice at all times from a pro0 -

Please read my previous postings, i had food but i had to pick up a few groceries, such as saffron and vegetables, cant expect to eat stale vegetables! geee... I prefer healthy living, except for the cravings of chocolate!!! hmmmmmmmm....
Some people on the other hand, do their shopping every day such as little old ladies... its their joy of getting out of the house.
Where i live supermarkers shut at 4pm; unable to drive because of my pregnancy (i am huge) i find that i am unable to go alot further afield.
I feel it is wrong to judge people. Every person is different, but not all of us believe in having several different bank accounts, or even feel the need to.0 -
I am with you all the way brightspark. Personally i would have left out the saffron bit (might get ribbed). Where i live they close at 4pm on a sunday too. where do these people live?0
