Wey hey just been out to the supermarket and my card is now finally working, having had a nightmare of a day with little food virtually no petrol in my car and constant lies and platitudes from Santander.
the article on the BBC website is obviously total lies, so its off to my branch to complain in the morning and then to the banking ombudsman, as these people clearly have nothing in place to protect their Millions of customers.0 -
The story has made the news on the BBC website. Sorry, but as a new user I cannot post the link, so here's the text.
Customers able to use their cards at tills! I think a few of us may dispute that claim!

That's rubbish.
If Visa had crashed, then no one with a Visa card (i.e. the customers of nearly every bank) would be able to use it.
The truthful answer would have been to say that Santander have crashed.
I was just informing people what Santander had told me on the phone...whether it was Santander that crashed or not Visa were not allowing spending or withdrawals from santander accounts today.... my point was simply that.

Ahhh so that was the problem earlier.....was trying to check my balance online and getting no joy at all, thought it was my pc playing silly beggers so left it a few hours, did some clean up on the pc and all was fine when I tried again.
Didn't try to use my debit card anywhere but boy that must have been embarrassing for those that did.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
If a single power cut can cause this much trouble then I do wonder what system they are running. Surely the should have battery back up, a generator or alternative location to take over.
I'm lost for words..... shocking!0 -
Is it just today as yesterday I tried paying for my winnng bids on ebay and my card was declined and I Know I have the money to cover it.
Santader are awful was ok til they came along, now I have my card blocked for slightest thing, letters to ring and do security checks..
Got to the stage now where I darent use my card to buy things in person incase they have blocked it.♥♥♥Life is too short to wake up with regrets ♥ So love the people who treat you right. ♥ Forget about the one’s who don’t ♥ Believe everything happens for a reason ♥ If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands ♥ If it changes your life, let it ♥ Nobody said life would be easy, they just promise it would be worth it ♥0 -
All banks, nay all companies have issues from time to time. Some of the rubbish spouted on here by some beggars belief. Machines etc and in particular IT systems go down, get over it. I bet all the moaners on here have had their own pc crash, error or hang on a web page. Do you go and change your pc??0

So you couldn't access your money for a few hours and suddenly your life has ended and you're all screaming for compensation.
Get a fcuking grip on your lives !!!!!!.

There are poor barstard who's homes are now rubble and have to worry about where the next meal is going to come from.
Yet you losers are after blood over a computer glitch.

I'm that annoyed that I've just emailed Sky News to make sure this isn't just swept under the carpet. Thousands of people are going to be inconvenienced by this, and some people are going to be without food/heat. It's just not on!!!!
To Brightsparks - I know how you're feeling! Deep breaths, think of the wee one

Tesco had no bread left in when i went in today at 3.59. This means io could not make any sandwiches for tea. I may now starve to death, I intend to sue Tesco for compensation. If they refuse i will do what the bank charge claiming chumps do and keep whinning on for all time.0
