Leaving the EU on an AA plane you get protection.

    Returning, you don't.

Thanks for clearing that up,hope for no delays on the return journey:eek:
  • Also be aware that BA and AA have different sized cabin bag sizes- AAs is smaller.

Can I suggest that you take at least one small cabin bag with you to bring back anything you might buy in NY. That's what I did on my second visit to NY last October, because the first time around I struggled to fit everything in the one suitcase I had taken.

Something to carry your travel documents, travel insurance details in.

A change of underwear just in case your hold luggage goes missing.

    Tablet.

Books to read on the flight.

    Travel adaptors.

    Camera.

    Valuables.

American is smaller for the main piece of hand luggage.

    British airways- 56 x 45 x 25cm (including handles and wheels)
    American airlines- 56 x 36 x 23 cm (including handles and wheels)

British adheres to what is considered the european standard and American is the "american" standard. British wins on this one thing.

My 'essentials' for the hand luggage are sweets to suck during take-off and landing, earplugs ditto, neck cushion for going to sleep, big scarf for sleeping under, reading glasses.
