Fairly sure the previously mentioned M4RKM regularly went alone, and had a great time.

DS3 goes alone too, although I think he's usually meeting up with game developers he's met elsewhere.

    hi

Been a vivid reader of this thread for a while and some good tips have been mentioned !!

I was wondering if anyone has done-would recomend doing new york solo?

I have been twice before with my brother but he is sorta unsure if he can afford to go back, so I am figuring on going solo!

    Has anyone been solo?
Did you feel a lil uneasy?-i guess more to do with eating alone, though doing some research siting at the bar would be a bit better than a formal restraunt kinda place(happy to be proved wrong here!)
At the moment i am looking to go from the 4th-8th august- would this be a good-bad time to go? in my previous visits both being in june.
Looking at different travel sites- plus booking direct with airlines-direct with the hotels to try price up!
Looking to go direct from edinburgh , though a 1 stop would i would consider
any advice welcomed though and thanks in advance
If you are comfy doing this in this country then you will be ok . I haven't been alone but it wouldn't bother me .( I am a 50yr old bloke from Merseyside and will talk to anyone anywhere anyway)

  • Hoping to go back to the big apple in February 2018. We have 4- 5 nights when daughter is on a school trip.prices for hotels (for this February as a guide ) seem to be cheaper than other times of years,- certainly a lot cheaper than December ( last month) when we went.

Also B.A' s sale that starts in December seems to have decent prices for this February.
Anyone been at this time of year. will we freeze to death? :D

It's very cold, but a great opportunity to go.
So think thin thermal underwear, great socks, scarves, gloves, waterproof shoes etc.

Thanks. We were there last month. Had a bit of snow on a couple of the days, but thought it was going to be much colder than it actually was.
I know February temps can really plunge though, but as long as we prepare with the right clothes as you suggest, I'm sure we'll be fine.

I suppose the real worry is if the weather is so bad, that flights may be grounded..

Book a flight with BA or VS as the 'operating air carrier' and you're covered under EU reg 261:2004 if the weather goes bad. Just need to think of a back up for your daughter.

I thought we weren't covered for the return. I'm in Princeton now. Booked with BA to Philadelphia, the flight is with AA, the partners.
