I put them in after the safety briefing. They don't deaden hearing completely, but they do take the edge off the noises which do my head in!

Hello Ganga

People struggling with huge bags in the cabin. Then trying to push them into the overhead locker. Why on earth do they need to carry so much on a long haul flight !

Like you Ganga, wife has her handbag and I just have a small man bag with my travel camera passport and 7" tablet.

Everything else goes in the hold !

DS1 is travelling. Has been for a couple of years. All he needs is in a rucksack. I was surprised to learn it's small enough to be hand baggage. He was told it was small enough to be hand baggage when he went to check it in one day.

So, each time he doesn't have to check it in, he's saved enough for another few nights in a hostel ...

Could not agree more,airlines brought out the hand luggage rules for a reason but on nearly every flight we have been on my wife asks the same question,how can that be classed as hand luggage ? as people struggle to get oversized luggage into the overhead lockers.Personally i wish the airlines would enforce the rules more.It would be fairer for everyone.
PS has your mate greenface spoken to you yet regarding the result at the weekend?
