FWIW here's the New York City average weather conditions for each month. Of course conditions on any given day can vary considerably from the historical average.

Doesn't look too bad on the Times Square webcam HERE. We went to Florida in Feb 15 or so years ago and the airport in Orlando was crowded with people unable to get flights to NY, DC and Boston areas due to massive snowfalls there and since then it seems an almost annual event for snow in Feb.

They coped well when we there in December, it snowed heavily, to a Southern softy anyway!, but the ploughs were out and the roads cleared really effectively within a couple of hours. it did add to the Christmas experience for us.

NYC does suffer some extreme weather. I flew from Orlando to NYC in September 2013. It took 7.5 hours (including a refuelling stop). All 3 airports were closed by heavy rain.

Think i might invest in some thermal underware if weather does not improve in NY.

The only thermal underwear I own came from Century 21 on a winter trip. It certainly helps. NYC weather is very unpredictable. I remember one trip in March, a week before there was snow on the ground. When I got there, it was shorts and T-shirts

I think a pair of thermal long johns and vest will not cost much and take up little room in the suitcase,am going to Debenhams tomorrow so will see what they cost.
  • We are also there in May for a few days at the start of our trip.

We did the ESB last time so won't bother but we are staying around the corner from it so will see it daily. Didn't go over to the SoL as the queues were horrendous so we did a helicopter tour instead which was good.

Didn't even think about ToTR - thanks for that tip and will talk to the OH about booking a time in the early evening.

I keep looking to see if there's anything on at MSG, but nothing much as yet, I know that we can go see The Yankees play but having seen a baseball game in LA (and didn't realise it had ended) sort of puts me off.

I will have to read a bit more of this thread to get some more tips
