Yes, yes they have. I have no idea what plans they have in store for it though  :o

AOL will keep its own identity, content and charging structure Carphone will manage the accounts side of the business. Also, expect lots of cross promotion for Carphone Warehouse products.

so has anyone recently managed to get the 9.99 with free router? i signed up a few weeks ago, not got router yet (line only just activated) and have tried twice now. knocked back both times. variously:

    aol is a different/better product
    no usage cap
    free router
9.99 is only for existing customers who upgrade and only some of them get the router

i'm feel like i'm banging my head against a brick wall and can't remember how to get the banging my head against a brick wall emoticon to appear!

    help!

They do give you the free router with the £9.99 deal (though few have managed to get the wireless router - they will do that for £25 happily if you have the £9.99 deal).

Are you asking about getting the £9.99 deal?

If so, they did say last month it would end on 30/9/06.

If you don't now have that deal, then you could phone and cancel and hope they will put you on that deal to retain you. (Are you still in the cooling off period when cancellation is allowed without any charge?)

Am still in the cooling off period. I think I'm being a bit greedy! I would like to keep hold of the wireless router (when it arrives) as a backup for my current one but i only want to pay 9.99! did anyone manage the double whammy? :) and has anyone managed to get it since the cut off period? or maybe there's an intermediate price between 14.99 and 9.99 that they can give?

Now that they've done the deal and been bought up I don't think they have the same need to "buy" in customers like they were.

If it's any consolation, few managed to get the free month you will be getting as well as a wireless router and pay only £9.99.

But have you considered madasafish (works out at £13.99/month) who are much better - they do up to 8meg max (AOL charge £30/month), a free router (£25 for a wireless one), free domain, unlimited e-mail addresses, great service via their servant who posts here, see the madasafish questions thread, no funny aol restrictions on using third party e-mail clients etc.

You could get in there via aol who will give you a MAC!

But you are not comparing like with like! The MAAF package is limited to 5GB usage and is not unlimited like AOL. Don't really see the point in a faster speed, when it is severely limited what you can do with it.
