well after reading all the problems on this forum i was but apprehensive of moving to AOL from NTL Freedom but i must admit am impressed with their service and speed of migration.
I placed order on 18/09 along with MAC code and have been moved across today though at the same time i must say i have recieved no welcome pack or communication informing me of expected date of activation or confirmation of the order. Only when i woke up this morning i realised that my BB wasnt working and wireless router had red indicator light to indicate problems. Rebooted the router was still the same so thought they might have just done the migration.
as stated on their website while placing the order that they would move my connection over in 7 days.. and i must say they have done it literally 7 days.. had placed an order at around 11 pm last week monday and had been moved over in 7 days... as i said am impressed :)

    Mortgage-free Glee!
So, if I sign up today, the offer is £14.99 and free wireless router. If I sign up on Monday, it'll be something else. Anyone care to hazard a guess? Actually, I suppose I could sign up and then call them if the new offer's better... what do we think? Help!!!

If you phone them up you should be able to get the £9.99 special offer.

You may need to keep ringing till you get an agent who knows about the offer.

Marquis which number did you ring to get the £9.99 deal, and did you have to quote any promo code etc? Thanks.

Try call free number in the evening and talk with indian or american guys. More chance to get £9.99 deal.

    Good luck.

I think what Espresso means is you're confusing bits with bytes.

Marquis said he was getting 130kB/s. The upper-case B means bytes. So on a 1Mb/s (bits) connection, 130kB/s is the best you can expect.

You are right. 1byte=8bits. 1Mb/s is roughly 130KB/s.

I have to pay £29.99 to get 1MB/s(8Mb/s).
  • Can someone who has been online with AOL a couple of months give me some advise please?

I am 2 weeks into my first month. I signed up for the Silver package at £9.99 and am on Platinum for the first month. I have not loaded the AOL software onto my main PC but just loaded it into a second PC today. I did not receive a CD from them (had to pick one up at Asda!!) and didnot get the Ts+Cs to agree to when I logged in for the first time as my welcome letter suggested.

How do they know if I want to go down to Silver at the end of my first month, will they email me as I recall seeing on this thread or do I need to call them?

    Thanks
