Anyone used RPC Recycle?

RPC Recycle came out on top of the comparison tool.
They offered £85 for my 12 month old Xperia Arc compared to Mazuma's £75 offer so it seemed obvious to go with them.
I sent my phone special delivery due to the value and I tracked it so I knew it arrived the next day however 4 days later the website still claimed that it had not been received. I emailed them and was informed that they had a backlog they were working through.
Finally 7 days later my phone was "received" and revalued at £72.75 due to some "screen scratches" that did not exist as the phone still had an undamaged screen protector on it.
I considered declining the revalue but then realised I would have to pay to get it returned and then pay again to send it to another company resulting in a loss of more and more of the value.
I reluctantly took the offer but vowed to stick with Mazuma from now on. They have always paid the quoted price the last 5 times I have used them.0 -
Rip off recycle more like.
I sent my daughters htc one X off to rpc they offered £160 the phone had a small blemish on the back but other than that was un marked and in full working order.
The revised offer was
£40 needless to saythe phone will be coming back to as I would rather throw it in the bin than be ripped off like that.
Avoid like the plague0 -
I think RPC Recycle have a policy of quoting the highest price in the market then, when they have your phone, re-valuing it almost automatically. Most people will probably accept the new price when they weigh it against the cost of getting it sent back.
WHEN USING THE MSE PHONE VALUER I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD PROBABLY TAKE *AT LEAST* 15% OFF THE PRICE OFFERED BY RPC.
This way people will be less disappointed when this is what they're offered, and it's probably more like the price they're going to get.
To get the price they offer your handset has to be essentially brand new.0 -
I received a competitive quote from RPC, sent off my i-phone recorded delivery (£6) and then received an email to say the original quote had been reduced by £20 because of wear and tear (the phone was all but immaculate). I declined the revised quote and paid £5 to have it posted back to me. Sent it to O2 who paid promptly and in full (no wear or tear noted).
I think that prices were falling and that RPC didn't want to honour their original price. I would be wary of using them. It cost me £11 to learn the hard way, hopefully I can save you that expense.0 -
I too have had the misfortune to use RPC. My phone was downvalued by 15% for having some signs of wear and scratches to the screen. If the scratches existed at all they were near to invisible and as to wear the phone was in good undamaged condition. I am most dissatisfied with this company and will not use them again. This is the first time I have come across a company that reviews its prices in this way as most will simply distinguish pricing between working and non working and pay accordingly.
Unless you are prepared to accept that the price you are offered on the website cannot be relied upon and is likely to be reduced when RPC receive it DO NOT USE RPC.0 -
i challenged the reduction in price and got it put back to the original quote dont just accept itWhat goes around-comes around0

i thought they were okay? obviously not0

I sent off my iPhone 4 to them and had the offer price slashed by 66% because of scratches on the chrome frame. The phone was in near pristine condition as it was in a case all of its life and had a screen protector. I refused the paltry 45 pounds they were offering me. A complete waste of time and money.0

I wouldnt recommend this company.
I think were expecting me to send a brand new phone to them. In fact they'd probably still find problems with a brand new phone.
Iphone 4S. Quoted £211. They revalued it at £110.
I actually think the phone is in good condition for 12 month old, however they have listed a load of problems I dont recall being there before sending it off.
I'm confident this will sell for more than £250 on ebay and this is what I do when I get it back.
Just a total waste of time using these idiots.0 -
Thought I'd stick a wee review in, overall I'd say I'm happy with their service.
I first used RPC a couple of years ago when selling my iPhone 3G. I got a quote, sent the phone off special delivery and a few days later I got a response. From my recollection the revised the amount down by a few pounds due to some light scratches on the gloss back. There were some scratches so I accepted this.
I used them again last week, got a quote for £115 (guaranteed for 14 days) for my Samsung Galaxy S2 in excellent condition, a week before the Galaxy S4 was released. Once the S4 was released the online quote dropped to £105 so I was sure that by the time I sent my phone in they would find some flaw to revise the offer down again. I sent the phone special delivery on Wednesday morning and got the full £115 paid by BACS on Saturday. I'm very happy, especially as they were offering more than the competition.
Having said that, I do look after my phones and the S2 was in near perfect condition after two years. I will happily use them again.0
