Anyone used RPC Recycle?

Don't bother with these jokers.
Firstly they offer slightly more than other companies. Then when they received my phone they claimed it had slight marks on the edge (where I hadn't taken a photo of it - just front & rear) & revalued it at £10+ less.
Phone was mint & had been in a gel case since new & was only a few weeks old. Other customers have had same encounters - google mobile trade in review sites.
They also sent out incorrect postage labels was supposed to be freepost but failed with that (i should of known then) one week after receiving my phone got email saying hadn't been valued due to volume of handsets received! also, if you're not happy with their revalue it'll cost you £3 to get it back.
Once they clear your phone for payment they say it'll take 3 to 5 days to show in you're account -mine took 3 days. No I would not ever reuse or recommend them. Used Topcashback & I haven't received my cashback & don't expect to. You have been warned0 -
Up until today we've had no problems with RPC.
We sent off 7 mobile phones for recycling last Friday - all in good condition. We've just received notification that the price has been reduced on EVERY phone. One of them was my son's old Blackberry which is less than a year old, they described it as having chips round the edges.....I know for a fact this is untrue as the phone has always had a silicone case round it. All these phones were checked before being sent and they were fine.
I spoke with RPC and they tried blaming the post, I packed them all myself in layers of bubble wrap and packed them tightly into a box so I know it's got nothing to do with the post!
He then went away to check the phones himself to see if we had been treated "unfairly" but he phoned back saying all the descriptions were accurate - LIAR!!!
A few months ago I would have recommended this company but now I would say avoid them like the plague....0 -
Avoid RPC Recycle!
They may quote the highest but they then revalue your handset once they`ve got their grubby mitts on it so that they end up giving you the LOWEST of the values that MSE says you`ll be able to get.
I had to pay to get it back but I wasn`t going to let them rip me off.0 -
Hi,
I have to agree with a lot of people on here. I sent them my iphone 4 special delivery and had £25 knocked off the price for what they say are scratches, there were no scratches, that phone was immaculate. They are clearly hoping people are desperate then trying it on.
Only thing I want to know is where and how do I pay the money to get my phone back? I rejected there offer and haven't had a message or anything though?????0 -
Having read mixed reviews on RPC Recycle, I decided to give them a go because my old Nokia 6300 handset was in what I considered to be extremely good condition. Okay, I wouldn't have said it would pass for brand new, but this is a site for second hand mobile handset recycling, and it was in excellent second hand condition.
The offer was £11 but they downgraded this to £9.35 for "wear and tear". I emailed their customer services team twice using the email address they provide (enquiries@rpcrecycle.com) and my messages were returned each time stating delivery failure because "delivery to this address is restricted". I then used the automatic email contact form on their website - they say that they aim to respond during the same working day, but about 30 hours later, I have still not received a reply.
So I rang them and was advised by Phillip, the representative I spoke to, that he would re-inspect the phone. He called back to say that there were scratches on the screen. After reading the feedback from others, I think this is probably their standard response, and there may have been extremely small and subtle scratches as you would find on any handset, but that you will only get the original offer price quoted if your handset is actually brand new.
In short, I have asked for the handset to be returned, as although I will receive slightly less from another company, for me it is a matter of principle and I do not think it is right for them to routinely quote offers for second hand handsets, that they would only give for a brand new handset. I have just also sent my husband's handset to Asdatech, and his showed far more sign of "general wear and tear" than mine, yet Asdatech have sent a response saying they will honour the offer.
Surprisingly, when I asked how to pay the £3 fee to have the handset returned by RPC (as I said, it is a matter of principle), they said they are currently trialling a system where they will return the handsets for free, and that they will still be tracked in the same way so that I could claim if it went missing in the post.
I will re-post to confirm whether or not I receive my handset safely back - a part of me is worried that it will have new scratches on the screen that were not present before - I would advise anyone sending a mobile for recycling to photograph it first, and photograph how well it is packaged also. Basically, if you are considering using RPC, deduct 15% from the offer automatically, and THEN compare to offers from other companies. I believe they routinely offer more than they are likely to honour, just to get higher on the list than other recycling companies.0 -
I am surprised to find today that my handset has been returned via courier, just the day after I requested its return. As far as I can tell, it does not have any additional signs of wear and tear, compared to when I sent it.
I still think that downgrading it was a bit harsh and warn other people to assume there will be that 15% downgrade automatically unless your handset is for some reason brand new and unused. Am now going to send handset to Asdatech who gave a great service with my husband's handset.0 -
Avoid! This company!
Was quoted 220 for my blackberry z10, only a couple of months old and in perfect working order. They reduced the value after inspection by 40 quid! Due to.. yes u guessed it... light scratches on the screen, which might I add still had the screen protector on it. This company is an absolute joke, its now costing me to get my phone posted back
and if u do try and fight it by emailing them the emails are now failing and redirecting back into your inbox. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!0 -
I went with this company because of the positive feedback on here. I sold 3 phones (one a Blackberry Bold Touch) and was offered just over £170 for the 3. Once they received them i got an email offering just over £90. Although i didn't really expect the full amount they did find 'faults' with the phone that i never found using it every day. Not entirely happy but sold it to them as i couldn't be bothered with the hassle of getting them sent back. Should have gone to CEX!0

AVOID RPC!
Like many others, I looked on a comparison site and RPC appeared to offer the best price for my iphone 4 (£135). I sent it in near mint condition, in original box with all accessories. I opted for the "send me an envelope, i'll pay postage" option (their recommended option). A standard brown padded envelop arrived. This raised my suspicions immediately as Mazuma and other companies I have used in the past had branded envelopes. It seemed unprofessional to me.
Anyway, envelope arrived a week or so later and I paid postage to send it. Today i had an email saying they offer me £67.50 due to Excessive wear and tear. Firstly, looking at their website, excessive wear and tear is only 25% reduction in price. Secondly, the phone is in near mint condition and fully working. Thirdly, and most worringly, the gentleman who answered the phone when I queried was also the person who had done the inspection and knew the phone. That would indicate a very small company to me! When I complained, he said he'd check with his manager and get back to me. He did and they offered £90. I asked his name and he said "James". I had by this time run a company check on RiskDisk and could see the two directors are James Legg and David Seaman. When I aksed if he was James Legg he went very quite and said "no my name if Jamie". I asked who his manager was and he said "er...David", being very cagey. I asked if this was David Seaman and he said yes, but he's not there to talk about the company, only to sort out my phone".
Looking at the company accounts on Risk Disk they have a negative net worth of £-65k and a credit rating that has been suspended. Perhaps this is why they are reducing prices offered once they have your phone?
When you also look at the directors home address, and view the property on Streetmap, your suspicions will be raised even further.
Then there comes the £3 charge to send my phone back to me. "Pay it by Paypal or debit card" he said. I certainly was not going to give them a debit card number, so I elected Paypal....is there a way to pay online? No. I had to ring the company back to be given an email address to send postage payments too. Does that sound like a robust and professional organisation?
I will leave you to make your own mind up, but my advice would be to avoid. They have won your business by quoting higher prices that they won't end up giving. They are very cagey when you ask questions.0 -
Every negative comment you read below seems to be true just wish I'd found this forum before I sent the phone.
They will chip you on the price
They tell you the phone is damaged or scratched when it isn't.
Use RPC at your peril, you have been warned!0
