Anyone used RPC Recycle?

  • Another bad experience here. Quoted £130 for and iPhone 4. Was then offered £90 with RPC Recycle claiming the device was heavily scratched on the screen and rear of the case. Absolute rubbish.

Sent to O2 Recycle and received the full £110 they quoted originally.

    Avoid.
  • Hi there,

New to this site, but really wished I had read all of these before using this company to trade in my phone.

I was quoted £174 to trade in my iPhone 4s which was in perfect working order, had a cover on for the full 18 months of (careful) use and had 2 minor surface scratches on the screen. Having read RPC's Ts&Cs I was confident that my phone met all of the requirements to obtain the full quoted price. I sent it to them in the original box, and paid around £7 for recorded delivery as suggested to ensure it got there safely.

I have to admit I was rather incensed to receive an email from them to say that due to excessive wear and tear, they were reducing my offer down to £65 for the phone!! I mailed back to say I wasn't interested in this offer and was then charged £3 for the privilege of having it sent back to me - not in the original box either I may add!

Even if the screen had been cracked I wouldn't have expected to have a perfectly working phone to have been reduced by £109 as the shop in my town centre replaces screens for about £25!!

I then used Asda Recycle and received the full £155 offered for my phone with no issues at all.

Avoid this company at all costs as it looks like they are making their money from scamming poor unfortunate customers with offering unrealistic trade-in prices, reducing them drastically as soon as they have the phone in their posession then hoping people will just give in to this offer rather than the hassle of paying to have their phone returned
  • Registered to post comments just so I can warn others against RPC Recycle. Originally offered £240 for iPhone 5 32GB, then said it had scratches and dust under camera and offered £120. You have a very short time to get the phone back, and they make it complicated.

Then sent to Mobile Phone Xchnage who paid out the full £210 they offered.
  • RPC downgraded the phone (Iphone 4 16gb) from £100 to 0 as I forgot to take passcode off (doh!) but more annoyingly saying it had deep scratches!! charged me £3 to send it back and I'd paid £7 to send it!
(I know it was my mistake to not take the passcode of-but they could have asked for it-would have only taken a second!)
This same phone got me £92 from fonebank (they must have overlooked the "deep scratches)

Checked online for the best price for my iphone 4 16GB and this company came back with the highest quote. Had to pay to send the phone which I thought was a bit cheeky but thought, if I get the amount they said then fair dos.

They quoted me £133 pounds for the phone, I sent it recorded delivery and got an e-mail saying as there were scratches on the phone they were reducing the price to £68. Now I admit there were very minor scratches on the screen and case, none more than a couple of mm long and very light (I've used the phone for over 2 years!) but reducing it to that price is just ridiculous and a complete rip off.

Had to pay another £3 to get my phone back, which did arrive very promptly, but overall an absolute rip off!

    DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!

I am now trying fonebank with the same phone, got some good reviews so will keep you posted!

Fonebank were brilliant-free postage-sent on Friday 20th Dec-received and paid Monday 23rd Dec-full price quoted £92-RPC reduced to 0 cos of deep scratches and cos I forgot about taking off passcode (I know, I'm a dope! but it would have taken seconds to take it off!)
  • They original offered me £220 for an almost new iphone 5 with no marks/scratches, which I thought as a reasonable offer and was the highest from all the websites I looked on. When they received the handset, they then rejected my phone, then re-offered me £150 for it instead.
I rejected the offer (as I just found it insulting) and paid £3 for them to return the phone to me within 3 days. They did not do this and I didn't hear anything form them after 5 days. I then tried to call, and was KEPT ON HOLD FOR TWO HOURS!!! After only being apparently at queue position 5.
I am STILL waiting for my phone to be delivered back to me when my original order was places on the 10th December. They originally offer the best prices, but with no actual intention of following through it seems.

I beg you not to waste your time with this poor excuse for a company.
  • i used RPC and thought their prices was the best but then the scam started. i got an email saying the screen was scratched on one of the phones and they changed the price they had offered me by half. i would not use them again as i know i had checked the phones prior to sending and they were perfect.
    total scammers. just avoid them.

I had a HTC Desire C bearly 1 year old
I'd had it unlocked and still had all original packaging. perfect working order and not a scratch on it since I'd always kept it in a case witha screen protector
I sold it on Gumtree for £60
Just out of interest I checked out all the recycle sites and the highest offer I got was £22
I know for sure one of these sites sell them on ebay for 3 or 4 times their offer prices, sometimes more so a good earner for them but an absolute ripoff for those selling them
Why don't people understand how easy it is to sell privately on sites like Gumtree. There are over 12 similar sites online and I use up to 8 of them whenever I have something to sell
Check them out: freeads, preloved, vivastreet, friday-ad and many more on Google
What is really nice about these sites is that they are free

  • I sent my Samsung Galaxy s2 off with missing button that powers on/off - they said they would have to deduct 30 percent off the £66 it promised me. So, I agreed and now 3 days later I am still waiting for my £46. On its site the testimonials (which have to be all fake) promise payment within 24 hours (if going BACS). I have been told 5 days, working days, plus another 3 working days to clear. It could be two weeks that I am forced to wait.

I can't understand why anyone uses these companies they are nearly always a ripoff.
I sold my last phone on Gumtree and got a much better price for it.
The one I had before that I swapped an iphone 3g for the HTC through Free-ads
There are many other free advertising sites. Just look on google
I'd never sell a phone to a recycle or a store like CEX or cash converters, they always buy cheap and sell expensive
