wish i'd read this thread before applying for a card yesterday. Seems odd they take so long when virgin money couldnt get a new CC out to me quickly enough.0

I've been charged 3% too according to the Santander phone helpline.
Despite applying via A&L website and being an A&L customer for over 20 years.
I'm slightly behing lifebegins though and have not yet received my 1st statement.
They did say I "have a different product" than the one I applied for via the A&L site. The problem is the product I have got appears to be a 12-month 0% BT with a 3% BT fee.
This product does not exist on the A&L webiste though. (There is one with a 3% fee but that is for 15 months).
I expect I will get the same answer thewookie has got after their 10 working day investigation into my complaint.
I'll see. Looks as though I'll just keep it for getting money out abroad...
despite the fact I have more transfers to do.0 -
This is getting to be a re-enactment of the Abbey situation about a year ago when that lady from a Money Programme on a certain radio station took an interest in Abbey's shambolics.0

*drumming of fingers*... 9 weeks since on line application and still nothing to show for it.
Is this a record ?0 -
I've noticed that most people have had to wait a really long time to get their santander zero card..
I want the card as i'm going travelling at the end of the month and they're the best abroad.. I do technically hold a mortgage (with my parents) at santander... If I were to go into a branch and ask for the card do paperwork etc, do you think that i'd be both more likely to
a) not get refused?
b) get it in time before i go travelling?
what do you think? is it worth trying? any advice would be appreciated!!0 -

Studentsavysaver, please tell me this is an early april fools joke???????:beer:Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ..... wow what a Ride!0 -

You are an optimist to think that you will have the card in hand in a month's time!! It would be not be unrealistic to expect to get in two months time at the earliest.0 -
Dear All,
Take 2 as I've just lost a post I have written due to some security issue. I’ve been reading this thread with great interest and have decided to take the plunge and see what happens.
I have an A&L current account and applied in a Santander branch on the 22nd Feb. I opted for applyin in branch as so many applicants are experiencing problems with online/phone applications. Now I’m thinking an A&L branch may have been better as I’m concerned that some applicants are not receiving the 0% fee deal. I’m suspected that the information that qualifies an applicant for this deal is not being relayed with the application.
I popped in to the branch today to see how my application is progressing. It’s still with the underwriters at head office but the young man that dealt with my query was most helpful. Contact made with a real person-Result. If my application is successful, I plan to go through the paperwork with a fine tooth comb and if is says 3% I will go and see this young man and get this changed before I transfer any balances to this card. If they refuse I’ll close the card and my current account in protest.
I’ll let you know how I get on

Update on application process:
Went into branch today and spoke to the person than deals with credit cards. Also went in yesterday but didn't get anywhere as the general customer support person informed me that if I haven't heard by now I must have been declined. He didn't really know what he was doing and just wanted to get rid of me. This is the guy that gave me the form to fill in and assured me that I would get the 0%/0% deal.
It turns out that there is a problem with my address details. The “real “ person I referred to in my previous message had mis-informed me when he said my application was with head office. The information that had gone to head office was my address update. It turns out that I am already on the Santander system as I used to have an Abbey Instant Saver account that I opened in 1997. This account has been inactive for years and I believe it is closed but my details were listed under my previous address. Apparently, it takes 2-3 weeks to update address details and then once this is done I will be able to apply. It took ages to work out that this is what has happened. My application has therefore gone no-where. What a load of p**h.
May apply in the A&L branch as my address details should be up to date on their system but I suppose if their system has to talk to the Santander system I’ll have same problem. To be honest I may just give up. What a load of p**h.
Shocking customer service
What a load of p**h
Will provide another update soon
