Update on application saga--
1st application Feb--lost in system due to inability to process as three addresses listed under my name for dormant accounts (previously posted about this)
Several attempts to merge addresses made and finally someone who was visiting A&L from head office claimed to have resolved the issue.
2nd application--through A&L branch rejected as merged address on three accounts was incorrect. One line of my address was missing.
I appealed and filed a complaint regarding shoddy customer service regarding resolving address issues.
Card issued but address was mutated. all info there just muddled up. Limit £3500 -contract says 0% interest and 0% fee. I made them deliver it to A&L branch near work in case it got lost.
Just made a BT for £1500 by phone and was reassured that I would NOT be charged. We'll see. Will go to my pals in A&L if any probs as they reassured me that there would be no charge.
I guess this was a lot a lot of work to get the card and have earned the cash I will save through stoozing.
For anyone considering applying--check what is listed on the Santander system for your name and date of birth. Any inconsistencies will jeopardise your application process. Santander claim that the computer blip that made the address merging process so difficult has been fixed but even if you have two addresses listed under your name, this will cause problems.
My listings for all dormant accounts-one was for a Bradford & Bingley account I opened in 1982.
Good luck

Just reading about the Santander 12 month 0% balance transfer no fee card. Have I read it correctly, can I actually open an A&L Premier ac without actually using it, I mean not transferring all existing d/ds and s/os from current account in BoS. If it is possible, I take it that would entitle me if accepted to no fee.0

Yes, and yes. Though there's been some reports that A&L account holders are charged a 3% fee and need to get it refunded - may be easier to open a Santander account instead."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0

Anyway, they're going to apply a 3% fee, even though I have an A&L current account, and apparently I have to raise an enquiry with them to get the fee back. Has anyone else had success with this?
I was charged and got my 3% fee back eventually even though they did it a strange way and never did call me back!
I thought I was in for more hassle when they took my first direct debit and only took £5 when it should have been considerably more. But it turns out they had credited my account with the fee and took it off my first payment so all was good.
So hang in there if you are in a similar situation - you should get it back.
Even if they do seem to be doing it in a slightly sneaky way by trying to keep the debt on your card.0 -
Recieved my Terms and Conditions that require a signature today, 3 weeks after applying for this card. How long now until my account will be up and running? Ive got £3000 which i want to balance transfer over and i need to do this within the next 10 days.0

:T:beer::TUPDATE: Received card with £3500 limit. Balance transfer of £1500 has been made and just checked on-line and have not been charged. Clearly lists 0% charge for balance transfer. I'm happy that I persisted. A lot of work. Establishing a relationship with someone in the A&L branch helped and was key. If you have A&L current account apply through A&L branch as Santander are all over the place at moment. I kept saying 0%/0% everytime I went in and mentioned that I was concerned as a friend had been charged 3%-didn't want to mention this site. If there were then any problems-they would have helped. Will work out whether need other £2000 soon. Also appeal any application rejections as a simple admin problem may be the issue--in the end my address has a line missing.
Good luck with applications. Charlie-£165500 (2.4.07) Current Balance: -£129354.76 (05.12.11)
